Price, Absent Trustees Geo.A:Breiss, <br />On motion of Trustee PtIcNulty,seconded by Trustee Tuchsen the minutes of regular meeting <br />held July 19th.192O be dispensed with,idotion Carried. <br />Application of Mrs.B.PaAlaon of 529 Grant Avenue for city water was on motion of <br />Trustee Tuchsen,seconded by Trustee McNulty and carried same be referred to the Supt. -- <br />of Water, <br />Moved by Trustee Tuchsen, seconded by Trustee McNulty and earried,on recommendation <br />of Architect J.R.Miller, a warrant in the amount of 0 669.75 be drawn in (favor of Fred <br />Warden for completion payment on the new Fire House, <br />Trustee Tuchsen offers the following Ordinance No,2I0 and moves its adoption,Trustee <br />IRabie seconds the motion, <br />ORDINANCE NO.2I0. <br />AN ORDINANCE LICENSING FOR <br />,PURPOSE OF .REGULATION ANi]l <br />REVENUE, EVERY KIND OF LAW- <br />FUL BUSINESS HEREINAFTER <br />SPECIFIED, TRANSACTED ORCAR- <br />RIED ON WITHIN THE LIMITS OF <br />THE TOWN OF REDWOOD, CITY, <br />COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE <br />OF CALIFORNIA, FIXING THE <br />RATE OF LICENSE TAX UPON THE <br />SAME, AND PROVIDING FOR THE <br />COLLECTION OF SAID LICENSE <br />TAX, AND PROVIDING A PUNISH- <br />MENT FOR CARRYING ON SAME <br />WITHOUT A LICENSE, AND RE- <br />PEALING ORDINANCE No. 100., <br />The Board of `Trustees of the Town <br />or Redwood City do ordain as 'follows, <br />to -wit: <br />SECTION 1. It shall, be unlawful' <br />for any person, whether as principal or <br />� <br />agent, clerk or employee, either for <br />himself or for any other person, or any <br />body corporate, or otherwise, or as <br />officer of any corporaton, to commence, ` <br />carry on or engage in any trade, call - <br />Ing, business, profession or occupation! <br />In this ordinance specifled, or to do any- <br />thing for the doing of which a license i8 <br />herein provided to be procured, without <br />first having procured a license front the <br />Town of Redwood City so fo do, and <br />each -and every day or fractional part <br />of a day that said trade, calling, busi- <br />ness, profession or occupation in this' <br />ordinance specifled Is conducted, carried <br />on or engaged in, or said thing done, <br />without such license, shall constitute a <br />violation of this ordinance, and any <br />person who shall violate any of the pro- <br />visions 'of this ordinance shall be deem- <br />ed guilty of a nlisdemeanor and upon <br />conviction thereof shall be punished by <br />a fine not exceeding one hundred and <br />eighty ($180) dollars or by Imprison -1 <br />meat in the County Jail of the Countyl <br />of San Mateo, State of California, not <br />exceeding ninety (00) days, or by both <br />such fine and Imprisonment, and the, <br />amount of such license shall be deemed <br />a debt to the said Town of Redwood <br />City and such person shall be liable In <br />an action In the name of the ToEv1t_of <br />Redwood City, in any Court of compe- <br />tent jurisdiction, for the amount of the <br />license of such trade, calling, business, <br />profession or occupation as. he or they <br />I shall have heart engaged in, with <br />costs of suit, Provided however, that <br />arrest and conviction hereunder shall <br />not be construed as a waiver of the <br />right of said Town to bring civil action, <br />nor shall the bringing of such civil ac- <br />tion release the defendant therein, or <br />any other person, from such criminal <br />prosecution. <br />SECTION 2. The Town Clerk must <br />prepare and have printed blank licenses <br />of all classes mentioned in this ordin- <br />ance. The Cleric must afilx his official <br />seal to, number and sign all licenses <br />and from time to time deliver them to <br />the Marshall in such quantities as may <br />be rcqulred, taking his receipt therefor, <br />and charge him therewith, giving in the <br />entry the number, classes and amounts <br />thereof. Said Clerk must keep 1n his <br />office a ledger in which he must keep <br />the Marshall's account for delivered <br />to him, sold or returned unsold by him, <br />SECTION 3. All licenses shall be paid <br />In advance in lawful money of the <br />United States. A separate license must <br />be obtained for each branch establish- <br />ment or separate place of business in <br />which, the trade, calling, business, pro- <br />fession or occupation, is carried on, <br />Each license shall state the amount <br />thereof, the period of time covered <br />thereby, the name of the person, firm <br />or corporation for whom Issued, the <br />trade, calling, business, profession, oc- <br />cupation, or thing licensed, and the lo- <br />cation of the place of business If any <br />where such trade, calling, business, <br />profession or occupation is to be car- <br />ried on. The quarterly licenses in this <br />ordinance provided shall be <br />due and payable in advance <br />on the first day of January, <br />April, July and October, and all such <br />licenses shall expire with the last days <br />of March, June, September and Decem- <br />ber of each year. The weekly licenses <br />In this ordinance provided shall be due <br />and payable to the Town on Monday of <br />each week In advance. The dally licenses <br />In this ordinance provided shall be due <br />and payable to the Town each day in <br />advance. The annual licenses in this <br />ordinance provided 'shall be due and <br />payable to the Town on the first day of <br />o-1 <br />.201 <br />
