<br />McCarthy wished the hearing continued until next meeting that all members of the
<br />Council might be present and vote, and so moved, seconded by.Counoilman Hildebrant,
<br />'but the motion was lost with the following votes: In favor.of the motion - Council-
<br />men Hildebrant and McCarthy: opposed, Councilmen Beeger, Dusel, McNulty and Stafford.
<br />Upon motion of Councilman Hildebrant, seconded.by Councilman McNulty the Masonic Hall
<br />Association was given permit to hold a dance Saturday night, August 23d.
<br />Upon motion of Councilman Buse!, seconded by. Councilman Hildebrant.. building permit
<br />and inspection fees were waived in connection with the building of the neer Baptist
<br />Church on James Street.
<br />Roy G. Labaehotte in a letter to the Mayor called attention to the dangerous traffic
<br />situation at the corner of Arguello and Brewster, Upon motion of Counoilman
<br />McCarthy, seconded by Councilman McNulty, the matter was referred to the City Manager,
<br />the Street Superintendent and -the Chief of Police, with instructions to bring in a
<br />recommendation as to the beat way to handle the situation,
<br />A letter was read by the Clerk from E. H. Belcher of San Francisco pertaining to
<br />alleged confiscatory assessment on his property and upon motion of Councilman
<br />Hildebrant, seconded by. Councilman McNulty, the letter was ordered filed.
<br />Upon motion of Cogncilman Beeger, seconded by Councilman McNulty, affidavits of posting.and
<br />publishing "NOTICE OF IMPROVEMENT% placing electroliers on Main Street, were ordered
<br />filed. Attorney, Jos. Bullock, having previously filed a written protest of several

<br />property owners, addressed the Council indicating that said signers constituted more
<br />than one half of the private property affected. Upon motion of Councilman McCarthy,

<br />seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, the matter was continued to August 25th at 8 pm,
<br />Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant,introduced an<ordinance "An ordinance
<br />fixing the amount of money to be raised by taxation upon the taxable property within
<br />the City of 'Redwood City as a revenue to carry on the various departments of said City
<br />for the fiscal year 1930-1931 and to pay the bonded indebtedness of said City falling
<br />due and becoming payable during said year, together with the interest thereon, and to
<br />maintain the public library of said City during said year (For full text see Ordin-

<br />Councilman Dusel,"seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, introduced an ordinance entitled "An
<br />ordinance amending an ordinance entitled "Ordinance No. 248, An ordinance fixing and
<br />establishing fire limits in the Town of Redwood City and regulating the building, con -
<br />strutting and removing of buildings therein", passed and adopted by the Board of True -bees
