Gray, Thorning Lumber Co 712.34 <br />A letter from the Chamber of Commerce was presented concerning the possibility of the Council <br />appropriating a reasonable amount to pay for an expert to be employed in connection with <br />the Parks and Recreation Committee, the'subject matter of which was also supplemented by <br />Councilman McCarthy, and upon motion of Councilman Hinman, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, <br />the Council went on record as'favoring the project and agreeing to provide a reasonable <br />'amount at the right time. <br />In connection with a letter from the Redwood City Tribune concerning a special edition of <br />peninsula papers advertising the Sunnyvale air base, it was decided to contribute to <br />this project $50.00, upon motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant. <br />Upon motion of Councilman Hinman, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, the Treasurer was <br />authorized to pay the auditor's bill of $500,00. <br />The City Manager presented a letter from the City Engineer indicating that Frank M. Brown <br />had completed his contract f or bridges and under the terms of the contract there was <br />due and payable $9,838.63. Upon motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman <br />Hinman, the Engineer's recommendation was approved and the amount ordered paid. <br />The City Manager addressed the Council concerning a charge sent to him by the League of <br />California Municipalities and he was authorized to pay whatever a3gount was really due. <br />Councilman Dusel asked the Council concerning Chew Street near Pine and Chestnut Streets as <br />to whether it was open or closed and the matter was referred to the City Attorney and <br />Engineer. <br />Upon motion of Councilman Mollulty, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, the approved claims <br />were ordered paid. <br />Adjournment. <br />i. t. <br />B.
