412 REGULAR ADJOURNNED MEETING REIVOOD CITY COUNCIL JUNE.22, 1931 8:00 P M Upon roll call, the following Councilmen were present: Mayor D R Stafford, H A Beeger, W J Dusel, C J Hildebrant, E B Hinman, P A McCarthy. City Clerk B E Myers. Absent: Geo 'If Mullulty. Residents along former Lexington Avenue filed a protest requesting that the name be changed back from Harrison Avenue to Lexington Avenue as formerly. Upon motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, the protest was filed with instructions that the Clerk notify the petitioners that when any further change of street names was being considered their petition would be taken up at that time. Upon motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Dusel, the City Manager was authorized to advertise for bids for official newspaper printing for the coming year. The question of grading from the Bay Shore Highway to Walnut Street and Steinberger Street was taken up and, upon motion of Councilman Hinman, seconded by Councilman Dusel, the City Manager was instructed to confer with Col. Skeggs of the Highway Commission as to what could be done. Upon motion of Councilman Dusel, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, the personal property tax levied against old buildings on the Tacoma Mill property was cancelled. Mayor Stafford announced that he had appoihted John Gill and Mrs. Z.T. 'fhorning to succeed themselves on the Library Board of Trustees. The Treasurer reported that there seemed to be a likelihood of a $20,000 deficit in the 1915 -Act improvement assessments with which to pay the bonds and coupons maturing and payable July 2. After considerable discussion, it was finally decided, on motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, to pay the coupons maturing at this time and to pay all bonds as far as the money iwuld go. On any unpaid bonds the City would pay the bondholder interest on the bond until the bond is regularly retired. In the same connection, upon motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, the City Attorney was instructed to begin at once foreclosure proceedings on the 181 parcels of property under discussion which had been delinquent over a period of years. Upon motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, the City Treasurer was authorized to transfer to the General Pand the balaned in all funds remaining after the fulfillment of the purpose for i^Mich the fund had been created as required under section 62 of the City Charter.
