i <br />0 <br />1 <br />El' <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />JULY 6, 1931 <br />8:00 PM <br />Upon roll call, the following Councilman were present: Mayor D R Stafford, <br />W J Dusel, C J Hildebrant, E B Hinman, P A McCarthy, Geo W. McNulty, C ity Clerk <br />8 E Myers. Absent H A Beeger. <br />The minutes of the meetings of June 16 and 22 were approved on motion of C amcilman <br />Hinman, seconded by Councilman Dusel. <br />The City Manager reported the following bids received for automobile and con - <br />tingent liability insurance and recommended that the bid of Walter M. Ryan <br />for $ 769.05 be accepted. Upon motion of Councilman Hinman, seconded by <br />Councilman McNulty, the contract for this insurance was awarded to Walter M. Ryan <br />representing the Public Indemnity Company of New The bidders were: <br />Rapp Bros. by Albert J. Rapp, for the Employers Liability <br />Assurance Corporation, Ltd <br />C. D. Swett for the Pacific Indemnity Cc <br />C. D. Swett for the Western Casualty & Surety Cc <br />C. D. Ryan for the Public Indemnity Cc of New Jersey <br />$846.35 <br />918.00 <br />944:38 <br />809.06 <br />863.41 <br />799.02 <br />769.05 <br />The affidavit of publishing notice calling for bids for legal printing was filed on <br />motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by-Counoilman Dusel. Upon publicly <br />opening bids the following results were had: <br />Redwood City Standard. <br />For the first insertion <br />" each subsequent insertion <br />Redwood City Tribune: <br />For the first insertion <br />" subsequent insertions <br />65¢ per inch <br />40¢ per inch <br />. <br />1.00 per inch <br />.50 per inch <br />On motion of Counsilman MoCarthy, seconded by CoOncilman MoNuulty, the <br />contract for printing legal advertising for the City of Redwood City was <br />awarded to the Redwood City Standard. <br />The City Manager in a letter addressed to the Council announced the appointment of <br />Mark E. Ryan as chief of the fire department, effective July, 1, 1931, with <br />salary to be fixed by ordinance. Upon motion of Councilman Hinman, seconded <br />by Councilman McNulty an ordinance fixing the salary of fire chief at <br />$29400 a year was presented. <br />The Clerk read a letter from the City of Belmont requesting the Council to submit a <br />resolution to the County Board of Supervisors in connection with the roadway <br />leading to the bay bridge. Councilman McNulty offered the following resolution, <br />seconded by Councilman Dusel. <br />413 <br />
