415 <br />A letter from Som J. Looke for the League of California Municipalities offering help:: <br />I <br />in framing ordinances was read an ordered filed.' Also, report of'H. Yfi, Crozier <br />I <br />! for June was read and ordered filed. A letter from the Mayors' and Councilmen's <br />Association of Northern California was read -by the Clerk and commented on by the <br />Mayor. On motion of Councilman Dusel, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, the letter <br />ordmrti! <br />i was ordered filed and a warrant 4drawn for $30,00 to pay the City's membershipfee in <br />this association. <br />I <br />Again the lease from the Southern Pacific Company for portion of Chestnut Street at the <br />Bay Shore Highway came up for discussion and finally, upon motion of <br />Councilman Hinman, seconded by Councilman McCarthy, the City Manager was <br />authorized to have the lease executed. <br />The City Manager also brought up the question of the Department of Highways for <br />w the State taking over the maintenanceof a certain portion of the highway <br />between Rogers Street and the city limits. Councilman McCarthy, seconded <br />by Councilman Hinman, offered the following reholution covering this matter. <br />RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Redwood City that the <br />Highway Commission of the State of California, be and they are hereby <br />requested to take over the maintenance and control all that portion of <br />E1 Camino Real in the City of Redwood City from the northwesterly line <br />of Rogers Street to the northwesterly limits of said city. <br />And be it further resolved that said City of Redwood'City.hereby releases <br />F and turns over to the State of California said above described portion of <br />i E1 Camino Real as a state highway. <br />And be it further resolved that the Council of said City of Redwood City <br />fII agrees to adopt such set back lines as requested by the Highway Commission <br />adjacent to the above described portion of E1 Camino Real and said Council <br />agrees to assist the said Highway Commission in obtaining the necessary <br />property -for widening said highway ften necessary and to pay for the <br />oontruction of all necessary curbs and sidewalks and to replace all its public <br />utilities where necessary. <br />Passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Redwood City at•& <br />i regular meeting thereof held on the 6th day of July, 1931, by the following <br />vote: <br />Ayes and in favor of the passhge of the foregoing resolution, <br />Councilmen: W J DUSEL, C J HILDEBRANT, E B HINMW, P A MC CARTHY, G W MC NQLTY, <br />D R STAFFORD. <br />Noes and against the passage of the foregoing resolution, <br />Councilmen: None, <br />Absent: Councilmen H A BEEGER. <br />Daniel R. Braden and he was told informally to pay <br />the claim. <br />I. The City Attorney submitted ordinance for the assessing, levying and collecting of taxes <br />and, upon motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Hildebranb, it <br />yiI was formally introduced. <br />
