<br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING
<br />REUNOOD'CITY COUNCIL
<br />SEPT. 8, 1931
<br />8:00 pm.
<br />Regular meeting of the Council of the City of Redwood City held. In the absence of Clerk
<br />B.E. Myers, on motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Dusel, and carried,
<br />Councilman Lambert was appointed Clerk Protem.
<br />Roll Call: Present Councilmen Lambert, Dusel, McCarthy, Hildebrant, McNulty and Mayor Stafford.
<br />Absent Councilman Beeger, Clerk Myers.
<br />On motion of Councilman Dusel, seconded by Councilman McCarthy, the minutes of August 8 and
<br />17, 1931 were approved.
<br />Mr. Jones spoke on the Hudson Street widening matter, under Resolution of Intention No. M-5, II'
<br />relative to allowing more time for the people to pay. Mr. Jones was informed that i
<br />the Council could take no legal action in the matter under the law, and the same was
<br />left in the hands of the City Manager, City Collector and City Attorney.
<br />Mr. Peter Gurnoff, 1829 Poplar Avenue, spoke in favor of street improvement on Poplar
<br />Avenue mud it was moved by Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, and
<br />carried, that `If the property owners would advance the money' -he pay for the material
<br />the City would make a temporary improvement in the street.
<br />Mr. Andrews requested permission to use the present city sign during the Iiiku Matsuri
<br />celebration. On motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Lambert, such
<br />permission was granted, the city to be covered by liability insurance at all times
<br />and everything to be removed from the sign and re -placed as before, and also the
<br />City Clerk notify the Dumbarton Bridge Company that their sign is being removed
<br />temporarily during the celebration but will be re -placed thereafter.
<br />Application of C.R. Burkhart for a permit to occupy the Foley property on Broadway, for
<br />automobile sale and show place, continued to the next meeting.
<br />Letter and wage scale of the International Union of Operating Engineers was on motion of
<br />Councilman ILcCarthy, seconded by Councilman HildQbrant, filed.
<br />Letter from the League of California Municipalities relative to their meeting at Del Monte
<br />September 21st to 24th, was ordered filed and Mayor Stafford was delegated to attend
<br />said meeting, together with such other city officials as might desire to do so.
<br />Letter from the Redwood City Ice Delivery relative to the University Creamery manufacturing
<br />and selling ice at 2658 Broadway was referred to the Chief of Police and Building k
<br />Inspector to ascertain the facts and take any necessary steps in relation thereto. it

<br />On motion of Councilman Lambert, seconded by Councilman Dusel, and carried, Mr. C.E. Piatt I
<br />was employed to audit the books of the current fiscal year.
<br />On motion of Councilman Lambert, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, and carried, permission
<br />was granted to subdivide Lot 51, as shown on Map 1, Subdivision 2, of Wellesley Park,
<br />into tyro (2) lots..
<br />Application of T.R. Smith for a plumbing license, accompanied by a bond and license fee of
<br />0
<br />fifty 050) dollars, was on motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant,
