<br />The City Attorney reported that he had interviewed the firm of Leonard & Holt concerning
<br />water collections and that they had promised him to clean up the outstanding accounts
<br />shortly. However, in view of the fact that the firm had a reputation of postponing its
<br />payments and considerable difficulty had been experienced heretofore, it was finally
<br />decided, on motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Dusel, that the
<br />Manager notify Leonard & Holt that $1,000, to apply on the outstanding account, must
<br />be paid into the Prater Department by the 16th of this month or the water would be
<br />discontinued, and that thereafter $1,000 each month should be paid by the 20th of the
<br />month until the entire indebtedness had been cleaned up.
<br />Councilman Beeger reported concerning his interview with members of the Yacht Club, the club
<br />owes rent for four months which it admits but it takes the stand that some ninety dollars
<br />Is due the club from the City for membership dues since the resignation of Councilman
<br />Hildebrant. The impression existed, however, that the Council was in no way indebted
<br />to the club and indicated that�the rent should be paid. The Manager was, therefore,
<br />instructed to collect the rent but authorized to adjust the club's claim on account of
<br />impure water not to exceed in amount one month's rent for the clubhouse, and that
<br />Councilman Beeger,representing the Council, would serve as an intermediary between the
<br />Council and the Yacht Club as well as the Sprtmen's Club in an effort satisfactorily to
<br />adjust the claims and also to organize a sufficient number of men who would take up the
<br />burden of paying the rent.
<br />Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Beeger, offered and moved the adoption of the
<br />following resolution approving the diagram of assessment district for work provided for
<br />under Resolution N-2, Extension of Main Street:
<br />RESOLUTION APPROVING DIAGRAM OF ASSESSMENT DISTRICT UNDER
<br />RESOLUTION OF INTENTION NO.N-2, AND DESIGNATING NEWSPAPER.
<br />RESOLVED by the Council.of the City of Redwood City, County of
<br />San Mateo, State of California, that the diagram of the assment
<br />district under Resolution of Intention No.N-29 passed and adopted by
<br />the Council of the City of Redwood City on the 16th day of March,
<br />1931, as said diagram has been prepared by C.L. Dimmitt, Street Super-
<br />intendent of said City of Redwood City, and submitted this 2nd day of
<br />November, 1931, be and the same is hereby adopted as the diagram of
<br />the assessment district for the work described in said Resolution of
<br />Intention No. N-2, which Resolution of Intention No. N-2 is now on
<br />file in the office of the Clerk of the City of Redwood City, and to
<br />which reference is hereby made for a description of the work herein
<br />referred to.
<br />AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Redwood
<br />City, County of San Mateo, State of California, that the Redwood City
<br />Tribune and Redwood City*Standard, a daily newspaper published,
<br />printed and circulated in said City of Redwood City, be and the same
<br />is hereby designated as the newspaper in which to publish the "Notice
<br />of Filing Street Assessment and of Time Fixed for Hearing Thereon"
<br />and the "Notice of Filing Unpaid Assessment List and of Time Fixed for
<br />Hearing Thereon" for the work- done under said Resolution of Intention
<br />No. N-2 of said Council hereinabove referred to herein.
<br />Passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Redwood City
<br />at a regular meeting thereof held on the 2nd day of November, 1931,
<br />by the following vote:
<br />Ayes and in favor of the passage of the foregoing resolution,
<br />Councilmen: H A Beeger, W J Dusel, C J Hildebrant, C G Lambert,
<br />E A McCarthy, G W McNulty, D R Stafford.
<br />Noes and against the passage of the foregoing resolution, Council-
<br />men: None.
