MY <br />city Qk <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />nECEMBER 71 1931 <br />7:30 P M <br />Upon roll call, the following Councilmen were present: Mayor D R Stafford, 19 J Dusel, <br />C J Hildebrant, C G Lambert, Paul A McCarthy, Geo McNulty. City Clerk B E Myers. <br />The minutes of the meeting of November 16th were approved, on motion of Councilman Dusel, <br />seconded by Councilman Lambert. <br />Mr. E. G. Hinds requested permission to build a frame S'xlO' office building for use <br />on his used car lot on the Highway between Brewster and Broadway. Although this <br />district is in the fire zone and would require a different structure yet in con— <br />sideration of the temporary use of this building, the permit was granted, on <br />motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, subject to <br />revocation at the pleasure of the Council. <br />Mr. Norman S. Menifee addressed the Council concerning bus service to Emerald Lake and <br />Woodside and more particularly about the bus drivers being permitted to deviate <br />from their established routes. He indicated they would be willing to obtain licenses <br />to run taxi—cabs. The City Attorney stated it might be wise to wait until the <br />Railroad Commission bad passed on the matter. Finally, on motion of Councilman <br />McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Dusel, the matter was referred to the City Attorney <br />with instructions to take any necessary measures before the next meeting and to make <br />a report at that time. <br />Mr. Julius Smith, representing a lessee for a bakery, asked if there could be any <br />modification of the ruling for the $100 deposit required of new businesses. <br />After considerable discussion a motion was made to grant permission on the <br />payment of a six months license but the motion was lost and no further action <br />was taken. <br />Mrs. J. M. Paulson of 441 Redwood Avenue explained the difficulty of using sidewalks <br />along that street due to the fact that the earth on both sides was higher than <br />the sidewalk and water accumulated on the sidewalk.
