City Ole: MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL DECE1d1BER 21, 1931 7:30 P M Upon roll call, the following Councilmen were present: Mayor D R Stafford, H A Beeger, W J Dusel, C G Lambert, P A McCarthy, G V. McNulty. City Clerk B E Myers. Absent: Councilman C J Hildebrant. The minutes of the meeting of December 7th were approved, on motion of Councilman Beeger, seconded by Councilman Dusel. C.E. Piatt, the City's outside auditor, addressed a letter to the Council explaining the operation of a revolving fund for the use of the City Collector in making miscellaneous refunds. Upon motion of Councilman Lambert, seconded by Councilman Beeger, the recommendation was accepted with the proviso that it apply to all refunds rather than to those of the Plater Department only and the City Collector was instructed to make the necessary arrangement. In a letter to the Council, the Redwood City Tribune set forth its case in connection with the charge for legal advertising and indicated that if the Council felt that it was necessary the Tribune would be bound for the rest of the fiscal year by the rate contracted for by the Redwood City Standard, whose business it had taken over. Upon motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman McNulty, the Clerk was instructed to notify the Tribune that the Council desired that the rate contracted- for by the Standard be continued for the rest of the fiscal year. In connection with the request of Attorney Menifee, concerning the bus lines running into Redwood City and the desire to deviate from the route assigned to them, the City Attorney explained that the Railroad Commission had approved this plan provided that the men obtain the regular taxi license. However, the City Attorney thought it best not to grant them a regular taxi license but to amend the City's taxi ordinance so that special taxi licenses could be issued to persons or firms doing business similar to these two bus lines. He was accordingly instructed to prepare such an ordinance. The City Attorney reported concerning the ordinance regulating the height of awnings from the sidewalk and stated that the ordinance now called for a six and one—half (fa�,�,-) foot clearance from the awning to the sidewalk and that the police should enforce it. 441
