459 MINUTES OF RFGULAR MEETING REDIMD CITY COUNCIL APRIL 4, 1932 8:30 P M Upon roll call, the following Councilmen were present: Mayor D R Stafford, H A Beeger, Wm J Dusel, C J Hildebrant, C G Lambert, Paul A McCarthy, Geo W McNulty. City Clerk B E Myers. The minutes of the meeting of March 21st were approved, on motion of Councilman Beeger, seconded by Councilman Dusel. A communication in the form of a petition was submitted by the'Clerk which had been signed by property owners along Main Street protesting against any action toward the installation of electroliers. On motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, it was decided that under the present economic conditions no further action be taken at this time toward the installation of electroliers along Main Street from Maple Street to Five Points. NOTE_: Filed with papers for a previous effort under Resolution of Intentio M-13. The City Treasurer asked the attitude of the Council as to whether or not bonds which had been purchased on an investment basis in order to save interest should be held or cancelled. On motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman McNulty, he was ordered to hold the bonds until the maturity date. Again -came up for discussion the matter of the Southern Pacific Company property at the end of Hamilton Street and the deeding of this parcel to Hare, Brewer and Clark. In consideration of all the circumstances it was finally decided, on motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Beeger, that the Clerk notify Hare, Brewer and Clark that in view of the fact that their negotiations with the Southern Pacific Company had not been successful and that the Company had indicated there were no negotiations now pending that Hare, Brewer and Clark be requested to return the dedd to the City with the understanding that the City did not intend to deed the property back to the Southern Pacific Company. The Clerk was instructed also to notify the Southern Pacific Company that the deed had been requested returned. The City Manager in order to give complete information concerning the subject filed a communication with the Council concerning the conditions of a storm sewer at the end of Brewster Avenue. After consideraw4Z discussion concerning the difficulties of handling drainage in that section, the communication was ordered filed. The Building Inspector submitted a request from Foster and Kleiser of San Francisco requestion permission of the Council to erect a posting panel on El Camino Real near It Five Points which request was denied, on motion of Councilman Hildebrant, seconded by f' S Councilman McNulty. y! The Building Inspector also spoke about the desirability of amending the zoning ordinance to take care of the construction of duplex or tao-family residences in the first i, residential section and, on motion of Councilman Dusel, seconded by Councilman McNulty, the City Attorney was instructed to take care of this situation. The City Attorney presented for introduction an ordinance restricting the distribution of hand bills, etc., in the residential section. This ordinance was properly introduced, on motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant.
