460 <br />A discussion arose concerning the advertising signs which had been placed in the flag pole holes, <br />along Main and Broadway and, on motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Lambert, <br />it was decided that there should not be any erection or maintenance of sidewalk signs on <br />the sidewalk area and the matter was referred_to the City Manager and Chief of Police. <br />On motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Lambert, the Council rescinded the <br />resolution adopted March 21st concerning the acquisition, construction and completion of a <br />reinforced, concrete reservoir and pipe line for domestic water system. Followingdthis, <br />Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Beeger, offered another resolution for the <br />acquisition, construction and completion of a reinforced, concrete reservoir and pipe line <br />to be located on certain specific property described therein. Unanimously carried. <br />In connection with the acquisition of the property desired for the reinforced, concrete reservoir, <br />now belonging to W.W. Carson, the Council discussed at length the question of adequate price <br />for the property and whether or not to proceed with condemnation proceedings as Mr. Carson <br />did not seem willing to accept the City's price. Finally to bring the matter to a head, <br />Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Beeger, moved that the committee consisting of <br />Councilm&n Beeger, Lambert and McCarthy, be authorized to take up the matter again with <br />Mr. Carson and be empowered to arrange for the purchase of the property at a price not to <br />exceed $1,200 an acre. The motion was carried though Councilmen Hiluebrant and Lambert <br />voted FnoH: After discussion it was decided that Councilman McCarthy, representing the <br />Committee interview Mr. Carson and endeavor to close the deal. <br />On motion of Councilman McCarthy,.seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, the City Engineer was <br />in$tructed to make up the necessary plans and specifications for the construction of the <br />reinforced, concrete reservoir to be placed on the Carson property. <br />The approved claims were ordered paid, on motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman <br />Hildebrant. <br />The reports of the various departments were ordered filed. <br />DOD <br />- a. <br />City 1 <br />n <br />
