461 MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL APRIL 18, 1932 8:00 P M Upon roll call, the following Councilmen were present: Mayor D R Stafford, H A Seeger, Wm J Dusel, C J Hildebrant, C G Lambert, Paul A McCarthy, Geo W McNulty. City Clerk B E Myers. The minutes of the meeting of April 14th were approved, on motion of Councilman Dusel, seconded by Councilman McNulty. (- John Doyle of Salinas was granted a plumbing license in consideration of his check for $50 and bond submitted subject to the approval of the City Attorney. _ The Bonita Parlor of the N.D.G.W. by its secretary, Mrs. Dora Wilson, addressed a communication to the Council protesting the placing of a tennis court in California Square. The Clerk was instructed to notify them that there was no intention of placing a tennis court in that park but that it would be placed in Mezes Plaza and that no decision had been made as yet to place any equipment in California Square and before anything was done the Council would be glad to confer with them. The letter of C.E. Piatt, special auditor, following his audit for the third quarter of the fiscal year was ordered filed. Upon motion of Councilman Hildebrant, seconded by Councilman McNulty, affidavit of the publishing of Ordinance No. 3314 was ordered filed. A Mr. Snider representing the publishers of the San Francisco Shopping News protested the passage of the ordinance and requested that at least it be -out over for two months. However, after a short discussion, on motion of Councilman Beeger, seconded by Councilman Lambert, the ordinance was formally adopted. Full text on Page 1ELI- of Ordinance Book No. 3. Harry Bourquin, representing the local sportsmen, especially those interested in baseball, asked the Council if anything could be done in cooperation with the trustees of the High School to prepare r the baseball diamond there so that it could be used to better advantage. He was assured that the Council would try to see that it was done. The City.Manager spoke about the difficulty of establishing a wage scale for the City due to certain I adjustments in the Union Wage Scale and asked that the matter be postponed. The City Attorney reported for Councilman McCarthy that an agreement had been reached with W.W. Carson concerning the purchase of the 14.169 acres of property required for the reservoir site and that a special agreement had been made with Mr. Carson concerning the screening of the reservoir to make ! it as sightly as possible and that under certain conditions Mr. Carson or any other owners of the adjacent property might have access to the water. Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Dusel, offeredresolutionin which the City Manager was authorized to sign the contract for the City, and also he was authorized at the same time to make the necessary payment for the property, namely $14,169. On motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, resolution ! was passed and adopted accepting the deed from W.W. Carson for the property in question and the Clerk was instructed to submit the deed to the Title Insurance Company to be recorded. Councilman Beeger, seconded by Councilman McNulty, offered resolution No. 0-2 declaring certain weeds a public nuisance and ordering that they be abated.
