480 <br />a <br />The Volunteer Fire Department on motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, <br />was -given a permit to hold a dance October 29 with the permission also to string a banner <br />announcing it across Broadway at Winslow Street, provided the banner was not hung before <br />October 15. <br />Councilman McCarthy called the attention of the Council to the contemplated bond issue of the <br />County for unemployment relief and suggested that the City go on record as favoring it. <br />Pursuant to his discussion, he offerred the £olllwing resolution which was seconded by Council— <br />man Hildebrant and unanimously carried. <br />RESOLUTION <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County have submitted <br />to the voters a proposal to bond the county for $350,000. for unemployment re— <br />lief, and <br />AREAS, said bond issue is necessary to provide for the unemployment <br />emergency now existing in said County of San Mateo, particularly in view of the <br />reduced tax levy for the current year and the consequent curtailment of the em— <br />ployment of labor on roads, etc; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, <br />BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of the City of Redwood City does <br />hereby heartily endorse and approve said bond issue and recommends the salve to <br />the voters of said county for their ratification; <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution be sent to the <br />Board of Supervisors, to the County Chamber of Commerce and to the Press of the <br />County.. <br />Upon motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant the approved claims were <br />ordered paid. <br />On motion of Councilman Beeger, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant, Mayor Dusel, the City Manager <br />and the City Treasurer were given permission to leave the State while in attendance at the <br />convention of the League of California Municipalities held at San Diego. <br />Adjournment. <br />E120TIA W <br />I `p <br />City Clerk <br />F1 <br />n <br />1 <br />lc'3 <br />fes_: <br />
