1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />and after considerable explanation of the different points covered by the ordinance, it was <br />formally introduced on motion of Councilman Lambert, seconded by Councilman Jones. <br />The City Manager submitted a letter from the City Collector, Mrs. Miramontes, concerning taxes on <br />Lot 24 in Block 4 of Stambaugh Street Addition, Arb. 455/24, delinquent since 1922. It was <br />asked that the Collector be authorized to accept taxes and penalties for five years and also <br />to waive all other charges, thus establishing the property on the tax books free from past <br />taxes. On motion of Councilman Lambert, seconded by Councilman Beeger, the City Collector <br />was so instructed. (Mr. Mansfield is this wording correct?) <br />The Native Daughters of the Golden West was given permission to hold a dance to one A.M. in the <br />Odd Fellows Hall, November 10. <br />Mr. W. D. Ryan, Chairman of the Retail Division of the Chamber of Commerce, submitted a letter <br />dated October 22, in which the following paragraphs appear and the letter was ordered filed. <br />"At a meeting of the Retail Division held Friday, October 21, I was <br />instructed to write and advise the City Council that the representative re— <br />tailers of the city are heartily in favor of the provision requiring a deposit <br />of $100 for a period of six months on the part of any person starting a new <br />retail business. <br />We believe this measure has been of great value to retail business, and <br />we are pleased to re—endorse it and request that it be strictly enforced.11 <br />The various departmental reports were ordered filed. <br />The approved claims were ordered paid on motion of Councilman McNulty,, seconded by Councilman <br />Hildebrant. <br />Adjournment. <br />BEM:MR <br />Ci <br />0 <br />4\s_ <br />sib <br />
