I MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL j DECEMBER 5, 1932 5:00 P.M. Upon roll call, the following Councilmen were present: Mayor, W. J. Dusel, H. A. Beeger, C. J. i Hildebrant, R. N. Jones, C. G. Lambert, Paul A. McCarthy, George W. McNulty, City Clerk, B. E. Myers, Absent: None. Minutes of November 21 were approved on motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Jones. SI The Clerk read a letter from the Greater South Redwood Improvement Club concerning the confusion existing among certain property owners affected by the extension of Hudson Street and asked I the Council to clear up the matter. Councilmen Lambert and McCarthy entered into a discussion and the City Attorney explained about the difficulty of reaching the owners of some of the j parcels. It was finally decided for the information of the Improvement Club that the City Attorney frame a reply to its letter, permit was given to the Knights of Pythias to hold dances, December 9, 16 and 23. The City ]Manager submitted a communication to the Council in which he outlined the difficulty now experienced in locating ordinances and suggested that something should be done about it. The City Attorney explained in part that he had been working on the repeal of certain ordinances and indexing others and would try to have the matter in proper shape by the first of the year. Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Lambert offered for adoption the following resolution: RESOLUTION WHEREAS, it is evident that municipalities within the State of California have not received a fair proportion of the motor tax funds with which to -construct and maintain streets and highways required by increasing automobile traffic, and WHEREAS a more equitable distribution of said funds is necessary and desirable, BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED THAT the City of Redwood City go on record as favoring the following: 1. A program for a continuous state highway system through— out California, including the construction, maintenance, reconstruction and widening of the necessary sections within municipalities; and speci— fically the addition of 6,624 miles of highways to the state highway system as proposed by the Automobile Club of Southern California and the Californis State Automobile Association, which addition will relieve the respective Boards of Supervisors of the State of a large portion of the burden now borne by them out of their portion of gas tax funds; this pro— gram to be carried out with the present revenues accruing to the State Highway Department. 2. The apportionment to each county as heretofore of one— third of the total proceeds of the existing three cent motor fuel tax; however, the amount accruing directly from the tax on the sale of gasoline ul 0 i i
