Granted on <br />motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Pletcher. <br />Councilman 2dcCartYq asked if the City Manager had made any attempt to prepare regulations concern- <br />ing the occupancy of the tennis courts at Mazes Plaza, and the City Manager reported that he <br />had it under consideration at the present time. <br />Mayor Lambert explained he had been approached by one of the citizens concerning,the possibility <br />of having more street lights operating during the Christmas season. The matter was referred <br />to the City Manager. <br />The City Manager submitted a plan according to which he was going to send out a long letter to all <br />the water users in Redwood City asking them to vote on three proposals, namely: (1) Whereby <br />the City would use Hetch-Hetchy water exclusively. (2) Whereby Hetch-Hetcby water would be <br />mixed with Redwood City water on a 50-50 basis. (3) Whereby the present system would be con- <br />tinued, and only water bought when it became absolutely necessary. His recommendations were <br />approved on motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman McNulty. <br />The City Attorney stated that the petition and copies -in the matter of requesting the Railroad Com- <br />mission to fix a just compensation to be paid for certain properties of the Pacific Gas and <br />Electric Company were presented to the Attorney for the commission to check before filing, and <br />it was suggested that the City under its Charter should possibly have acted by Ordinance rather <br />than by Resolution. Upon the suggestion of the City Attorney and on motion of Councilman Jones, <br />seconded by Councilman McCart1r, the following resolution was passed and adopted. <br />RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Redwood City that that certain <br />resolution entitled, "a Resolution of the City Council of the City of Redwood <br />City declaring that the public interest and necessity of the people of said <br />city require the acquisition and purchase by condemnation proceedings or other- <br />wise of certain electrical distribution system properties, rights-of-way, ease- <br />ments and franchises of the Pacific Gas and Electric Company, a corporation, <br />within the limits of said City of Redwood City and certain isolated territory <br />f outside thereof, and authorizing the necessary proceedings to be conducted in <br />pf connection therewithIl passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Redwood <br />City on the 19th day of November, 1934, be and the same is hereby rescinded, <br />set aside and made of no force and effect. <br />Upon motion of Councilman Jones, seconded by Councilman McCartIVr, the following ordinance to -wit: <br />"An ordinance of the City Council of the City of Redwood City declaring that the public in- <br />terest and necessity of the people of said city require the acquisition and purchase by con- <br />demnation proceedings'or otherwise of certain electrical distribution system properties, <br />rights-of-way, easements and franchises of the Pacific Gas and Electric Company, a corporation, <br />within the limits of said City of Redwood City and certain isolated territory outside thereof, <br />and authorizing the necessary proceedings to be conducted in connection therewith" was duly <br />introduced by the following vote: Ayes, and for the introduction of the Ordinance;' Councilmen; <br />Robt. N. Jones, Paul A. McCarthy, Geo. W. McNulty, C. G. Lambert.' Noes and against the intro- <br />duction of the Ordinance: Councilmen, L. C. Christensen, J. M. Eva and E. A.
