Absent: None. !' <br />The minutes of the meeting of December 17, 1934, were approved on motion of Councilman McNulty, <br />seconded by Councilman Fletcher. <br />The matter of contributing $300 toward the taxes due on property held by H. A. Beeger, as <br />Trustee for the Creditors of the F. K. Towne Estate, was laid over. <br />A letter was read from the Constitutional Rights Association of San Francisco, signed by its <br />President, 24. James McGranaghan, in which the Council was requested to pass a resolution <br />furthering the creation and maintenance of a municipal utility district to be known as the <br />Bay District Municipal Utility District. The matter was laid over until the next meeting. f <br />!j <br />N. C. Cummings, Secretary of the Board of Trustees for the Redwood City Library, in a commnnica— <br />;i <br />tion, asked the Council to appropriate $300 for materials to be used at the library, the <br />labor for which would be furnished by SERA. The matter was referred to the City Manager to <br />work with the Library Trustees. <br />M. R. Helmer, 135 Rogers Street, asked permission to tear down an old porch on the rear of his <br />residence and rebuild a new one approximately 6 x 10 feet. Permission was granted on <br />motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Eva. <br />Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Eva, proposed the adoption of the following resolution <br />which was unanimously carried: <br />RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Redwood City that the Superin— <br />tendent of Streets of said city be and he is hereby ordered and directed under. <br />the provisions of the ordinances of said city to erect stop signs at the follow— <br />ing places, to­,vit: <br />On the westerly side of maple Street at the northerly line of the <br />Southern Pacific Railroad Company's right of way (Pennsylvania Avenue); on the <br />westerly side of Jefferson Avenue on the southerly line of the Southern Pacific <br />Railroad Company's right of way (Pennsylvania Avenue); on the northerly side of <br />Brewster Avenue at the easterly line of Arguello Street; and on the southerly <br />side of Brewster Avenue at the westerly line of Arguello Street. <br />It is hereby declared unlawful for any person to fail to stop at the <br />stop signs so ordered to be erected as herein provided and any person so doing <br />shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be punishable as provided by the <br />ordinances of said City of Redwood City regulating said stop signs and authorizing <br />the passage of this resolution. <br />The City Manager presented a memo of an agreement with the State Highway Commission concerning <br />the accumulation of funds applicable for road work. As the City Attorney had not the oppor— <br />tunity to pass on it, the matter was referred to him for attention. <br />On motion of Councilman Christensen, seconded by Councilman McNulty, the Treasurer was authorized <br />to pay the Ban Mateo County Bank $2,000 to take up the Deed of Trust outstanding against the <br />Gillespie property on Roosevelt Avenue previously purchased for park purposes. I <br />Councilman Fletcher proposed that the City pass an ordinance making it necessary that all pasteuri— <br />zed milk sold in Redwood City be pasteurized within the city limits.
