Ordinance No. 370, rezoning Lot 2 in Diller Addition for French Laundry, and publica-
tion of notice of hearing, were ordered filed. Councilman McCarthy, seconded by
Councilman Christensen proposed adoption of Ordinance No. 370, rezoning as indicated,
and the same carried with Councilman Jones voting'I'No°.
Councilman Eva reported progress concerning the work of the Committee in connection with
the 1915 Bond statistics.
As requested by the Council, the City Attorney presented suggested ordinance concerning
the sale and solicitation of various goods and merchandise in Redwood City with
the special intention of reaching what had been characterized as 11panhandling° out-
side veterans. However, Major Edmonds, who first suggested such an ordinance, was
present and said that in his opinion the ordinance ras not strong enough. It was
decided, therefore, on motion of Councilman Christensen, seconded by Councilman
Fletcher, to introduce the ordinance and that a Committee be appointed to draw up a
set of regulations for the Police Department. On this Committee, the Mayor appointed
the City Attorney, Chief Collins and Major Edmonds.
On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McNulty, it was decided to
appropriate $55 for an Ad in the special edition of the Real Estate Magazine.
On motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Pletcher, it was decided to
appropriate $50 for donation to the work of the Boy Scouts.
Mayor Lambert again discussed the desirability of having a day or two devoted to showing
the people of Redwood City the physical resources of this community, and on motion
of Councilman Eva, seconded by Councilman Jones, the Council endorsed the idea.
Mayor Lambert was instructed to appoint a Committee to work with the City Manager
in planning the demonstration.
The City Attorney made report concerning the two suits which had been filed against the
City, one, by Mayne R. Millington, for Mrs. Lucille K. Gillis, of 160 Clinton
Street, and the other by Frank V. Kington, for Mrs. D. D. London. The attorney
felt that in neither case was the City liable for negligence, but he did think that
the City should stand the reasonable cost of medical treatment suffered by the
claimants. In the case of Mrs. Gillis he suggested an offer of $250 for an adjust-
ment and with Mrs. London something like $100. Mr. Millington, who was present,
indicated that his client could hardly be expected to accept any adjustment under $500.
On motion of Councilman Christensen, seconded by Councilman McNulty, resolution for the
customary spring weed eradication was unanimously adopted.
City Manager Dimmitt explalnad_that Poster & Kleiser wished to remove an old type sign
from the southerly side of vacant lot at the northwest corner of Main and Elm
Streets and wished permission to erect a new type sign immediately south of the
- Southern Pacific tracks, just west of Main Street. On motion of Councilman McNulty,
seconded by Councilman Eva, the Manager was given authority to grant the permission.
Councilman McCarthy brought up for reconsideration the location of the various busses at
the Southern Pacific Station at Winslow Street. It was contended that placing the
