194 <br />i <br />to opening and closing hours for barbers was adopted, with Councilman Christensen <br />voting "No".. <br />Report of the Council Committee, headed by Mayor Lambert, concerning the adoption of <br />Certain traffic signals and safeguards at the different crossings along the <br />Southern Pacific right -of -nay, was ordered filed, on motion of Councilman McCarthy, <br />seconded by Councilman Eva. <br />The City Attorney reported that the Railroad Commission had ordered Beech Street closed <br />and that the only alternative was for the City to ask for a rehearing if it cared <br />to continue its opposition. Accordingly, on motion of Councilman Eva, seconded by <br />Councilman Christensen, the City Attorney was instructed to seek a rehearing. <br />The question of the use of the Union label on all City printed matter was laid over. <br />Cin motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Pletcher, the affidavit of <br />posting a notice to destroy weeds was ordered filed. Councilman Pletcher, seconded <br />by Councilman McNulty, proposed the adoption of resolution requiring the abatement <br />of weeds throughout the City. Unanimously carried. <br />In connection with certain tax refunds filed against the City, the City Attorney sug- <br />gested that the matter be compromised in a manner similar to that followed by the <br />County, and on motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Jones, it was <br />so ordered. <br />Affidavits in the matter of publishing "Notice of Election" and "Nominees for Public <br />Office" for the general municipal election held in the City of Redwood City on <br />the 13th day of April, 1936, and the affidavit of B; E., Myers, City Clerk, in the <br />matter of the nomination of election officers of their appointment and in the <br />matter of mailing sample ballots and precinct election cards to all qualified <br />electors within said City, and in the matter of causing to be published the elec- <br />tion notice and nominees for public office as required by law,'were on motion of <br />Councilman P,va, seconded by Councilman Christensen, and carried, received and filed. <br />This being the time fixed for canvassing the returns of the general municipal election <br />.held in the City of Redwood City on Monday the 13th day of April, 1936, the Clerk <br />presented said returns to the Council, and said Council examined the same and found <br />the same properly sealed and in proper condition. <br />Said Council then proceeded to canvass said returns by having said returns opened in <br />public and estimating and computing the votes cast at said election, and having <br />canvassed said returns finds the same to be as follows, to -wit: <br />VOTES FOR EACH <br />CANDIDATE, <br />PRECINCT <br />BY PRECINCT - <br />ELECTION HELD APRIL <br />13, 1936. <br />PREG'INCT" NUMBERS' <br />1 <br />2 1 <br />�± 9 <br />6 Z 9 <br />TOTAL <br />Cerqui, Eugene <br />Hohn, William,. <br />Irwin, H.
