206 <br />Harbor: declaring the estimated cost of said municipal improvement, the amount of i <br />principal of said indebtedness to be incurred therefor, and the maximum rate of <br />interest to be paid thereon; fixing the date of said election, the manner of hold- <br />ing the same, establishing election precincts and polling places for said election 3 <br />and appointing Boards of Election therefor, and providing'for notice thereof. <br />Said Ordinance No. 374 is of record in Ordinance Book No. 3, Page <br />; <br />A letter was submitted by Mayor McCarthy in which Stone & Youngberg offered to the <br />City some $15,000 of 1915 Act Bonds at a special discount from the par value. (I <br />It was resolved, on motion of Councilman Christensen, seconded by Councilman Jones, <br />U / <br />\ � to buy these bonds with the understanding that Mayor McCarthy endeavor to get I <br />1 <br />from Mr. Youngberg a better price; in other words, instead of a spread of three <br />points to make it two. <br />In a letter to the Council, the Humane Society of Redwood City asked for a donation sug- <br />gesting that the previous amount of $10 be increased to $25. The donation was <br />granted, on motion of Councilman Christensen, seconded by Councilman Pletcher. <br />A. J. Dempsey, for the United Veterans Council, extended to the Co=cil and City Employees <br />an invitation to attend the Memorial Day exercises, Saturday, May 30, with a special <br />�I <br />request that the Council review the parade from a stand on the Middlefield Road. <br />The Clerk was told to thank Mr-. Dempsey and to say that the Council would be present <br />as requested. <br />A petition was submitted to the Council by several property owners from Lexington <br />Avenue and Birch Streets asking that a street light -be installed at the inter- <br />section of Birch Street and Lexington Avenue. The request was referred to City , <br />Electrician, M. E. Ryan. <br />On motion of Councilman Eva, seconded by Councilman Pletcher, the proposal of 0. L. <br />Green of Burlingame to present to the citizens of Redwood City a W.P.A. free concert <br />was approved and the Clerk instructed to write Mr. Green to that effect. <br />The departmental reports were ordered filed. <br />The approved claims were ordered paid on motion of Councilman McNul <br />ty, seconded by i <br />Council aVD 116 fa t e,• pNer.
