to arrange the liability with the Hartford Insurance Company without insisting upon the <br />form which was originally designated by the League of California Municipalities. <br />Following the suggestion of C. E. Piatt, City Auditor, on motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded <br />by, Councilman Hildebrant, the treasurer was instructed to write the First National Bank to make <br />adjustment in the bonds deposited with the City. <br />The City Manager filed with the Clerk a written communication outlining the situation existing be— <br />tween him and the City of San Carlos relating to the hiring of the City's Foundman and con— <br />siderable discussion ensued, following which Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Lambert, <br />moved.that the City enter into an arrangement with the City of San Carlos for a period of three., <br />months on a basis of two half days a month for $10.00 a month, with extra calls paid at the <br />rate of $2.00 per trip, and that the Mayor appoint one councilman to take up the matter with <br />the San Carlos Council. Motion carried and Mayor Dusel appointed Councilman Lambert for this <br />purpose. <br />The Clerk read a letter from the Blindcraft Organization calling attention to the restrictions <br />against solicitation of "salvages in Redwood City and the desirability of helping the blind. <br />On motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by.Councilman Jones, it was decided to make an ex— <br />ception in favor of the Blindcraft Organization and allow them to solicit what they called <br />"salvages with the understanding that no requests be made for money. <br />The City Attorney submitted an ordinance for the regulation of the sale of beer which was formally <br />introduced on motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Hildebrant. <br />The Livermore Rodeo, in a letter to the City Attorney, asked permission to have erected a_banner <br />advertising the rodeo for May 13 and 14 and permission was granted on motion of Councilman <br />Hildebrant, seconded by Councilman McNulty, with the understanding that the Building Inspector <br />supervise the erection of the banner. <br />Mayor Dusel read a resolution which had been adopted by the Northern California Fire Chiefs' Club <br />referring particularly to the installation of automatic sprinkler systems and automatic fire <br />alarm systems. On motion of Councilman Lambert, seconded by Councilman McCarthy, the resolution <br />was referred to Fire Chief Ryan. <br />Discussion was had concerning the details of taking over the Emerald Lake Water Company and after <br />explanation on the part of the City Manager and City Engineer, Councilman McCarthy, seconded <br />by Councilman Hildebrant, offered the following resolution in which the City agrees to accept <br />the Emerald Lake Water Company properties subject to the approval of the Railroad Commission <br />and to continue to serve that district. <br />RESOLVED THAT WHEREAS the City of Redwood City and the Emerald Lake Companyy,a <br />corporation, have entered into negotiations for the purpose of the City of Redwood City <br />taking over and acquiring all of the properties of the Emerald Lake Water Company, a cor— <br />poration, now supplying water to certain territory in the vicinity of Emerald Lake and <br />adjacent to the City of Redwood City, and, <br />WHEREAS, as a result of said negotiations the City of Redwood City has agreed to <br />take over all of the properties of. said water company. <br />Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Council of the City of Redwood City that upon <br />
