i I 11 It was decided to amend the °used car" Lot ordinance to read that a license fee of $200 per year shall be charged instead of $300 per year as was previously intro- duced. The ordinance, as amended, was re -introduced on motion of Councilman Eva, seconded by Councilman Christensen, with Councilman Hohn voting "No". A letter was read from the Planning Commission recommending that a portion of Mr. Davies' lot on Vera Avenue and E1 Camino Real be rezoned from residential to business property. On motion of Councilman Eva, seconded by Councilman Hohn, an ordinance *as introduced rezoning the west 73 feet of Lot 1, Block A, W.W. & M. from the second residential district to the business district. On motion of Councilman Eva, seconded by Councilman McNulty, Al Davies was given per- mission to erect a temporary office building on his °used car" lot at the corner of E1 Camino Real, and Vera Avenue. The Planning Commission, having recommended that set back lines on streets within the business zone be abolished except where such lines are established for future street widening purpose, was requested, on motion of Councilman Eva, seconded by Councilman Hohn, to make a thorough study of the existing set backs and report to the Council with more specific recommendations. On motion of Councilman Eva, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, the City Council appro- priated $270 for an ad in the ('California Homes" magazine for a period of three months. The City Attorney was instructed, on motion of Councilman Christensen, seconded by Councilman Pletcher, to start the necessary proceedings to annex certain lands between the northerly and easterly lines of Redwood City and San Francisco Bay as outlined by the City Engineer. r On motion of Councilman Eva, seconded by Councilman Christensen, an ordinance was introduced for the issuance of harbor bonds. On motion of Councilman Eva, seconded by Councilman Pletcher, Councilman Christensen was given permission to leave the State. A letter was read from the Italian -American Progressive Club recommending that an underpass or some other safety device be constructed at the Broadway Crossing of the Southern Pacific Company. The Club also expressed itself as being in favor of the playground or park to be located on the old corporation yard property at the corner of Chestnut Street and the Middlefield Road. On motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, H. J. Fitzgerald, of the M & M was granted a permit to hold dances at his place of business on July 11 and 18 until 1 o'clock a.m., and all other establishments of a similar nature were given permission to hold dances on the 11th and 19th. All dance applications must be referred to the Chief of Police before granting of permits. The departmental reports were ordered filed.
