 300
The City Manager reported concerning a light at the corner of Broadway and Main and
indicated that such installation was not being used at this time. He suggested
that a reflector button be used on the stop sign instead.
In a letter to the Council, the Chamber of Commerce, by its President, asked the
Council to give favorable consideration to a request for a definite increase in
the City Advertising Fund, such increase to be used exclusively for port development.
No action was taken but the request was filed for consideration at the time of
completing the budget.
As requested, the City Manager presented plans for sidewalk construction along James
Avenue and other streets in Central Park. The City Attorney advised that in his
opinion it would be best to do the work and issue bonds under the 1911 Act. It
was decided to consult bond buyers and contractors as to their willingness to
accept 1911 Act bonds and also to send letters to property owners asking them
to lay their own sidewalks. In this connection the Clerk was asked to write
letters to the Superintendent of Schools of Redwood City and to the High School
Board asking them to provide, if possible, in their budget for the ensuing year
for the expense of a sidewalk around the property at P,icKinley and along the
James Avenue side of the high school campus.
The Clerk was instructed to bring up the question of port advertising at the second
meeting of July and what to do about Valota Road at the first meeting in August.
On motion of Councilman Eva, seconded by Councilman McNulty, Councilman Jones was
i
given permission to leave the state.
The City Collector presented the following letter:
"I was authorized by Councilman Eva to accept the sum of $4,022.77 in
settlement of the charges on the following property instead of $5,912.54
actually due if the total amount were paid in fall.
