Myers.
The minutes of the meeting of January 3 were approved on motion of Councilman Christen-
sen and seconded by Councilman McNulty.
Mrs. Florence Donnelly, with other ladies representing the Peninsula Hospital Auxiliary,
addressed the Council concerning the desirability of having a local hospital, and
on motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Christensen, they were
authorized to initiate the preliminary investigations by asking the California
Medical Association, or some agency which that association might indicate, to make
a survey.
W. M. Rosenblum, representing the Tidewater Associated Oil Company, again requested per-
mission to construct a service station at the northeast corner of E1 Camino Real
and Hopkins Avenue, the project having been approved by the Planning Commission.
On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McNulty, permit was granted
provided the plans and specifications meet the approval of the Building Inspector.
There was read a letter from the Real Estate Board of Redwood City, the essence of which
was that there had been discrimination shown against the members of the board in
appointments to Redwood City committees and commissions. The Clerk was instructed
to thank the Real Estate Board for the indication of its willingness to cooperate
in City projects and to say that when opportunity arose, consideration would be
given to the members of the Real Estate Board.
P. J. Dwyer of 2406 Lincoln Avenue, appeared before the Council and also filed a written
application for a veteran's free license to pick up junk within the city. He ex-
plained he intended only to pick up the junk and sell it immediately to Sam Gold
who is in the junk business. On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Council-
man Christensen, it was decided to allow Mr. Dwyer a veteran's free license pro-
vided he furnished sufficient evidence of being a permanently and totally disabled
war veteran and approved by the local United Veterans Council, permit revocable
at the pleasure of the Council.
In a letter to the Council the Redwood City Planning Commission recommended that Mr.
0. Oleson be permitted to move his used car lot equipment from the corner of E1
Camino Real and James Street to his new car agency at the corner of Middlefield
Road and Main Street. On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman
Christensen, the recommendation of the Planning Commission was approved.
