As requested by the Council, the City Manager filed a memorandum of the cost of constructing
a footbridge connecting Main Street and Jefferson Avenue in which he showed an estimate
of the cost as follows:
Purchase of Right -of -Way $21000
Timber Footbridge 700
Filling and Concrete Walk 300
TOTAL ESTIMATED COST ...... $3,000
It was thought the cost too high and that the $2,000 for purchase of right-of-way
might be eliminated by acquiring an easement rather than buying the right -of -ray.
The matter was referred back to the Manager with instructions to inquire about the
easement with a reasonable tenure and at a nominal cost if it could not be obtained
without cost.
William Alves and Harry Lower made written request for a permit for the purpose of hold-
ing amateur boxing bouts at the Foresters Hall. There seemed to be no objection if
the gentlemen would provide the cost of a special officer, when necessary, and also
pay any local license fees in addition to a state license, and it was so ordered.
On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Christensen, permits for
restaurant licenses were granted to the following:
June Bunyard
Bob's Cafe
Welcome Inn
Joe Arce
Sodini's Tavern
Charley's Place
Sequoia Creamery
Garafoli's
The Waffle Inn
Dan's Place
Europa Cafe
Kung Yiet Cafe
L.
