374 <br />s <br />S <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />MARCH 21, 1939 <br />8:00 P. M. <br />Upon roll call the following Councilmen were present: Councilmen L. C. Christensen, 3 <br />J. M. Eva, E. A. Fletcher, Wm. Hohn, R. N. Jones, G. W. McNulty, Mayor Paul A. <br />4 <br />McCarthy, and City Clerk B. E. Myers. ' <br />e <br />The minutes of the meeting of March 7 were approved on motion of Councilman Fletcher, <br />seconded by Councilman Christensen. <br />After filing affidavit of publication, Ordinance No. 2406 licensing and regulating the <br />running and conduct of pool and billiard rooms and bowling alleys was adopted on <br />motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Christensen. <br />After filing affidavit of publication, Ordinance No. 1107 amending Section 41 of Ordi- <br />nance No. 327 providing for the assessment, levy, and collection of taxes was a <br />adopted on motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McNulty.; <br />Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Christensen, proposed the adoption of 3 <br />Resolution No. 1939-1 for weed abatement. Carried. <br />Councilman Eva, seconded by Councilman McNulty, proposed adoption of resolution accept- <br />ing deed from the Redwood City Harbor Company for Lots 7 and 8 of certain lands <br />i <br />belonging to the Redwood City Harbor Company. Carried. <br />i <br />There was read a letter from the California Mission Trails Association explaining its <br />purpose and asking the city to contribute $100 for publicity purposes. On motion <br />of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McNulty, the Clerk was instructed <br />to refer this matter to the Chamber of Commerce for its recommendation as to its <br />publicity value. <br />In connection with a letter from the "Clean Up During 19391' Campaign Committee which <br />asked that the Council establish a regulation requiring that all real estate signs <br />on property to be sold be limited to a size not larger than 2 feet x 2 feet, the <br />Clerk was requested to acknowledge receipt of the letter and to explain what was <br />4 <br />done. It was decided to have Councilmen McNulty and Jones attend the next meeting ?, <br />of the Redwood City Real Estate Board to explain the city's side of the situation <br />and to get the reaction of the members of the Real Estate Board. <br />The City Manager submitted for the approval of the Council explanation of a W. P. A. <br />project for the Recreation Department of Redwood City in which he outlined the <br />cost to the city for supervision, supplies, transportation, at cetera, amounting <br />i <br />to $277.50 for the period March 29 to June 30. The project was unanimously <br />approved on motion of Councilman Eva, seconded by Councilman Fletcher. <br />As requested by the Council, the City Manager made report concerning the traffic <br />situation at Brewster and Elwood, recommending that 'SCHOOL'ZONE' signs be placed QQ�� <br />
