374 s S MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL MARCH 21, 1939 8:00 P. M. Upon roll call the following Councilmen were present: Councilmen L. C. Christensen, 3 J. M. Eva, E. A. Fletcher, Wm. Hohn, R. N. Jones, G. W. McNulty, Mayor Paul A. 4 McCarthy, and City Clerk B. E. Myers. ' e The minutes of the meeting of March 7 were approved on motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Christensen. After filing affidavit of publication, Ordinance No. 2406 licensing and regulating the running and conduct of pool and billiard rooms and bowling alleys was adopted on motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Christensen. After filing affidavit of publication, Ordinance No. 1107 amending Section 41 of Ordi- nance No. 327 providing for the assessment, levy, and collection of taxes was a adopted on motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McNulty.; Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Christensen, proposed the adoption of 3 Resolution No. 1939-1 for weed abatement. Carried. Councilman Eva, seconded by Councilman McNulty, proposed adoption of resolution accept- ing deed from the Redwood City Harbor Company for Lots 7 and 8 of certain lands i belonging to the Redwood City Harbor Company. Carried. i There was read a letter from the California Mission Trails Association explaining its purpose and asking the city to contribute $100 for publicity purposes. On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McNulty, the Clerk was instructed to refer this matter to the Chamber of Commerce for its recommendation as to its publicity value. In connection with a letter from the "Clean Up During 19391' Campaign Committee which asked that the Council establish a regulation requiring that all real estate signs on property to be sold be limited to a size not larger than 2 feet x 2 feet, the Clerk was requested to acknowledge receipt of the letter and to explain what was 4 done. It was decided to have Councilmen McNulty and Jones attend the next meeting ?, of the Redwood City Real Estate Board to explain the city's side of the situation and to get the reaction of the members of the Real Estate Board. The City Manager submitted for the approval of the Council explanation of a W. P. A. project for the Recreation Department of Redwood City in which he outlined the cost to the city for supervision, supplies, transportation, at cetera, amounting i to $277.50 for the period March 29 to June 30. The project was unanimously approved on motion of Councilman Eva, seconded by Councilman Fletcher. As requested by the Council, the City Manager made report concerning the traffic situation at Brewster and Elwood, recommending that 'SCHOOL'ZONE' signs be placed QQ��
