Wellesley Avenue and Rogers Street. The men explained that the advertising value of <br />this sign was quite important to their business. On motion of Councilman Fletcher, <br />seconded by Councilman Hohn, permit was granted with the understanding that the <br />bear would be located under the supervision of the City Manager. <br />The City Planning Commission filed a letter indicating that by unanimous agreement it <br />recommended to the Council that there be no increase in the number of advertising <br />panels in Redwood City. The letter was ordered filed. In connection with this <br />subject, Mr. McGlade of the West Coast Advertising Company again addressed the <br />Council and insisted that some action be taken on his application of February 7, <br />which application requested permission to erect several panels in Redwood City. <br />In order to close the matter definitely, Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Council- <br />man McNulty, moved that the application be denied. Carried. <br />In a communication to the Council, Redwood City Lodge No. 1112, Loyal Order of Moose, <br />requested permission to use the building at 806 Arguello Street for lodge hall and <br />club rooms. At first it was thought satisfactory to grant permission provided the <br />repairs and alterations were done subject to the approval of the Building Inspector, <br />but after further discussion, it was thought best to send notice to the owners and <br />occupants of premises within 275 feet of this building to ask them whether or not <br />they wished to make protest to the Council against the use of the building for the <br />purpose of a lodge and club room. It was so decided on motion of Councilman McCarthy, <br />seconded by Councilman McNulty. <br />In a letter to the Council, Arthur W. Brouillet, attorney in San Francisco, inquired <br />about lots owned by the Moxey Realty Company and what progress had been made toward <br />cleaning up the transaction. On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Council- <br />man Hohn, the clerk was told to explain to Mr. Brouillet that definite action would <br />be taken at once and the treasurer was authorized to make the necessary payment. <br />Joe Farr explained that the Veterans of Foreign Wars were to have a state convention in <br />San Jose June 12 to 15 and that it would be an opportune time for the city to enter <br />I <br />a float in the parade. On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman <br />McNulty, the matter was referred to the City Manager to take up with the Publicity <br />Committee of the Chamber of Commerce. <br />The City Attorney reported that he had succeeded in continuing Wharf Street as a public <br />way and that any sale of the property now known as the Gardiner property would be <br />subject to easement in favor of the City. On motion of Councilman Anderson, seconded <br />by Councilman McNulty, the attorney was instructed to see Mr. Fromm and ask him for <br />an easement covering the other side of this small street. <br />The committee of the Council which met with members of the library board reported that <br />i <br />the joint conference recommended the employment as architects for the new library <br />building the firm of Miller and Warnecke assisted by W. R. Yelland, all of Oakland. <br />
