MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL June 6tb, 1939 9:00 P. M. Upon roll call the following Councilmen were present: Councilmen Harold F. Anderson, E.A. Fletcher, Pim. Bohn, Robert N. Jones, Paul A. McCarthy, Geo. W. McNulty, Mayor L.C. Christensen, and City Clerk B.E.Myers. The minutes of the meeting of May 16 were approved on motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilm.9n Anderson. Grant and Hoffman, by letter, asked for a 90 day extension of time in connection with their contract, for the payment of Hillview Avenue, making the final date September 30, in- stead of July 1. Granted,on motion of Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Fletcher. There was presented a petition signed by six oersons protesting against Sam Gold's making any annexation to his building on Woodside for the purpose of storing junk. Permission to build the building had already been considered and granted. The condition of the yard had not been satisfactory, but Mr. Gold had promised to clean it up. The City Attorney submitted two copies of a contract for sale of real estate executed by the City and the Palley and Coast Warehouse Company £or.certain harbor lands. On motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, the Mayor and the City Clerk were authorized to sign these agreements; the City Treasurer was instructed to draw a check for the initial payment of $2,500 and the City Manager was asked to include in next yearis budget $5,000 toward the second payment of $7,500, the rest of.the money to be borrowed from the Plater Department, and that the $2,500 payment less the $750 on hand be also added to the 1939-39 budget. , The Tax Collector submitted the following letter: "On May 271 1939, the Mayor and City Manager recommended the sum of $797.9+ be accepted in settlement of the charges on the following property instead of $965.39 actually due if the total amount was paid in full. The property referred to is Arb.Block 392 - Lot 7 or legal description Lot 7 and Portion Lot 6, Main Street Lots, assessed in the name of Amabelle C. Grandi. Delinquent taxes $370.52 Delinquent Freed taxes 2.59 Delinquent Bond L-2 90.21 Delinquent Bond N-2 206.06 Tax Penalties -costs 123 .41 Bond Assmt.penalties 54.0+ Bond Assmt. not yet due - L-2 16.36 Bond Assmt. not yet due - N-2 102.20 $965.39 On June 2, 1939, a check was received in the amount of $797.94- Will you please confirm the above authorization?" . On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McCarthy, authorization as re- quested was given. There was received from the League for Local Liquor Control a circular concerning a pro - nosed amendment to Section 22, of Article 22 of the Constitution relating to local con- trol of the sale of alcoholic beverages.
