M <br />Mr. Carl Stoner, representing the Redwood.City Materials Company, apneared before the Council <br />and asked permission to construct a galvanized iron building over the present wooden plat- <br />florm situated at the plant of said Company upon lot OEo as shown upon the map of Dillers <br />Addition and -anon motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Anderson, the per- <br />mit was granted. <br />Mike Kopin applied for a junk license. Mr. Kopin resides at 730 Cassia Street. Upon a motion <br />by Councilman McCarthy and seconded by Councilman McNultythe permit was granted to Mr. <br />Kopin to pick up junk, said junk to be moved out of the city before being removed from the <br />truck of the applicant. The motion was carried. <br />A communication was received from the Chamber of Commerce of Redwood City requesting that the <br />Council authorize the payment to the Burlingame Advanee-Star of $84.00, plus expense of <br />cuts, for a one-page display advertisement of Redwood City in the annual County Fiesta <br />Edition, and upon motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman MoNulty, said a- <br />mount was authorized to be paid out of the city advertising fund. <br />A communication was received from the Chamber of Commerce requesting; the City to authorize the <br />payment from the advertising fund of the sum of $5.00 to Reginald McGovern for 9 photographs <br />of Port activity at the Redwood City Port. By motion of Councilman Anderson, seconded by <br />Councilman Fletcher said amount was ordered paid. <br />A communication was received from the Chamber of Commerce felative to the financial participation <br />of the City of Redwood City in the matter of "San Francisco Peninsula, Inc.;' in the advertise- <br />ment of the Peninsula during the coming year. Said communication was ordered filed for future <br />action. <br />A letter was received from the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Corp., James Lindsay Post #2310, thank- <br />ing the Council for the cooperation in furnishing transportation for the Redwood City Muni- <br />cipal Band at the convention in San Jose on June 14th, upon which occasion the Redwood City <br />Band was awarded third prize and a trophy out of sixteen bands attending the Convention. <br />The trophy is to be presented at the Sequoia Union High School on June 23d, at 9:30 P.M., <br />1939, and the Council was invited to attend. Said communication was ordered filed. <br />A communication was received from the Redwood City District Association of Insurance Agents with <br />reference to the furnishing of road markers and signs to the City instead of purchasing them <br />from the Automobile Association. .Upon motion of Councilman McC3rthy, seconded by Councilman <br />McNulty the matter was referred to the City Manager for his attention. <br />A communication was received from the Redwood City Public Library notifying the Council that the <br />term of Mrs. A.S.Kelenborn on the Board of Library Trustees expires on June 30, ,1939,. and <br />requesting that she be re -appointed for another term. Mayor Christensen thereupon re -appoint- <br />ed Mrs. A.S. Kalenborn for another term as Library Trustee ani upon motion of Councilman <br />Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McCarthy, carried. Said appointment was confirmed and approv- <br />ed by the Council. <br />0 <br />
