O <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />JANUARY 20 1934 <br />8:00 P.M. <br />. i <br />Upon roll call, the foll6wing Councilmen were resent: Mayor, Yi: J. Duse1,.H. A. Seeger, <br />R. N. Jones, C. G. Lambert, Paul A. McCarthy, Geo. W. McNulty, City Clerk, B. E. Myers. <br />id Absent: Councilman, C. J Hildebrant. <br />The minutes of the meeting of December 18, 1933 were approved on motion of Councilman Jones, <br />a <br />i seconded by Councilman McCarthy. <br />The City Attorney presented a resolution accepting a Deed from Mary Julia Lohneis and Thomas <br />N. Lohneis, her husband, portion of Lot 21, Block 3, Jefferson Acres, in connection with <br />the widening and extension of Hudson Street. Upon motion of Councilman Beeger, seconded <br />t by Councilman Lambert, the resolution was unanimously adopted. <br />The City Clerk brought before the Council the question of volunteer firemen practicing on the <br />tower erected at the rear of the Central Station and explained that it was thought neces— <br />sary to be sure that practice on this tower was sin the course of employment1l, not only <br />for paid but for volunteer firemen. On motion of Councilman Lambert, seconded by Council— <br />man McCarthy, the Council unanimously adopted the following resolution: <br />RESOLVED that the Chief of the Fire Department be instructed that all <br />firemen in such drills as the department may require in the course of their <br />employment, be authorized and directed to use any or all of the fire equip— <br />ment, including the practice tower erected at the Central Fire House. <br />The resolution requested by the California Highway Commission•again came up for discussion. <br />The City Attorney presented the following resolution, prepared by him and the City <br />Manager in which there were incorporated certain qualifying paragraphs. On motion of <br />Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Jones, the resolution was adopted with all <br />voting for it but Councilman Beeger who did not vote. <br />RESOLUTION <br />WHEREAS, under and by virtue of Chapter 767 of the Statutes of 1933, <br />the Department of Public Works of the State of California is authorized to <br />expend annually from the State Highway fund an amount equal to one quarter of <br />one cent per gallon tax on motor vehicle fuel, after the proportionate payments <br />• <br />therefrom into the 'Fuel tax enforcement fund" and after the proportionate <br />refunds shall have been made, within the incorporated cities and freeholder <br />charter cities, and any city and county in the State of California, for the <br />purposes specified in said chapter, and in the manner provided by law, and <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with the provisions of said Chapter 767, and in <br />accordance with the provisions of Sections 363r and 363y of the Political Code <br />(Chapter 326 of tYte Statutes of 1933), the Department of Public Works, acting <br />Y ' <br />w by and through the California Highway Commission, has designated as State high— <br />. <br />t, ways the following described streets in the <br />7 <br />0 <br />55 <br />
