I
little bit more difficult for outside contractors to come into Redwood
City and take away business from the local men. The men indicated a
willingness to pay a reasonable license fee. On motion of Councilman
Anderson, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, the Mayor was instructed
to appoint a committee to consider this particular feature of licensing
and consider other features of the license ordinance if so desired.
Those appointed on the committee were Councilmen McCarthy, Anderson,
and Hohn.
The proposed Retirement Life Payments Amendment to be voted on November 7
provides that all City Funds be deposited in the Credit Clearings Bank,
and that all taxes and other city revenue may be paid in the 1130 -Thurs-
day Warrants." Considering the menace to the stability of the City and
particularly to its finances, it was decided on motion of Councilman
McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, to have the Manager and Treas-
urer ascertain from the banks whether or not it would be possible to
purchase just before election $75,000 or $100,000 of U. S. Bonds, with
the idea that these bonds would be kept if the amendment carried but re-
turned immediately after election if the proposal were defeated.
Adjournment.
BEM: HAS
i, E. &,
City Clerk '.
