M <br />6 <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />NOVEMBER 6, 1939 <br />8:00 P. M. f <br />Upon roll call the following councilmen were present: H.F. Anderson, <br />E.A. Fletcher, Wm. Hohn, R.N. Jones, P.A. McCarthy, G.W. McNulty, <br />Mayor L. C. Christensen, and City Clerk B. E. Myers. <br />The minutes of the adjourned meeting of October 23 were approved on motion <br />of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McNulty. <br />The City Manager submitted the following letter: <br />"The following bids have been received for paving <br />Middlefield Road between Main Street and Jefferson Avenue: <br />W. 0. Tyson <br />$4,128.51 <br />Galliagher and Gilgan <br />4,909.10 <br />L. C. Smith <br />4,103.35 <br />Chas. L. Harney <br />5,449.60 <br />Peter Sorenson <br />3,962.43 <br />Lee J. Immel <br />4,753.85 <br />U. Peir and Son <br />41668.91 <br />Peter Sorenson, 919 Arguello Street, Redwood City, <br />California, is low bidder, and I recommend the award of <br />the contract." <br />Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Anderson, proposed that <br />the recommendation of the City Manager be approved and that checks of <br />the unsuccessful bidders be returned. Carried. <br />On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McCarthy, Fred l ' <br />Balzano was granted restaurant license for business located at <br />47 Whipple Avenue. <br />Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman McNulty, proposed adoption of <br />resolution accepting deed from William B. Taylor and Christene <br />B. Taylor, his wife, covering Lot 13, Block 3, Jefferson Acres. Carried. <br />The City Tax Collector submitted the following letter: ! <br />"On October 21, 1939, City Manager •C. L. Dimmitt <br />recommended that the sum of $56.60 be accepted in settlement <br />of the charges on the following property instead of $70.75 <br />actually due if the total amount was paid in full. <br />I <br />The property referred to is Arb. Blk. 148, Lots 2-A, <br />2-B, or legal description - Lots 17-18, Block 52, Central ; <br />Park, 50' on Topaz, between Jefferson and Madison Avenues. <br />Delinquent Taxes <br />$23.60 <br />Delinquent Weed Taxes <br />3.24 <br />Delinquent Bond K-9 <br />22.73 <br />Tax penalties -cost <br />14.28 <br />Bond Assessment penalty <br />6.90 $70.75 <br />A payment has been made in the amount of 056.60.
