M 6 MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL NOVEMBER 6, 1939 8:00 P. M. f Upon roll call the following councilmen were present: H.F. Anderson, E.A. Fletcher, Wm. Hohn, R.N. Jones, P.A. McCarthy, G.W. McNulty, Mayor L. C. Christensen, and City Clerk B. E. Myers. The minutes of the adjourned meeting of October 23 were approved on motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McNulty. The City Manager submitted the following letter: "The following bids have been received for paving Middlefield Road between Main Street and Jefferson Avenue: W. 0. Tyson $4,128.51 Galliagher and Gilgan 4,909.10 L. C. Smith 4,103.35 Chas. L. Harney 5,449.60 Peter Sorenson 3,962.43 Lee J. Immel 4,753.85 U. Peir and Son 41668.91 Peter Sorenson, 919 Arguello Street, Redwood City, California, is low bidder, and I recommend the award of the contract." Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Anderson, proposed that the recommendation of the City Manager be approved and that checks of the unsuccessful bidders be returned. Carried. On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McCarthy, Fred l ' Balzano was granted restaurant license for business located at 47 Whipple Avenue. Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman McNulty, proposed adoption of resolution accepting deed from William B. Taylor and Christene B. Taylor, his wife, covering Lot 13, Block 3, Jefferson Acres. Carried. The City Tax Collector submitted the following letter: ! "On October 21, 1939, City Manager •C. L. Dimmitt recommended that the sum of $56.60 be accepted in settlement of the charges on the following property instead of $70.75 actually due if the total amount was paid in full. I The property referred to is Arb. Blk. 148, Lots 2-A, 2-B, or legal description - Lots 17-18, Block 52, Central ; Park, 50' on Topaz, between Jefferson and Madison Avenues. Delinquent Taxes $23.60 Delinquent Weed Taxes 3.24 Delinquent Bond K-9 22.73 Tax penalties -cost 14.28 Bond Assessment penalty 6.90 $70.75 A payment has been made in the amount of 056.60. Please confirm the above authorization." Authorization as requested was given on motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McCarthy.
