i <br />On motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Fletoher, and carried, <br />map of Perkins subdivision was approved. <br />On motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Anderson, and carried, <br />a permit was granted permitting the owners of the Perkins subdivision to <br />erect a sign not over 8 x 20 feet, permission revocable at the pleasure <br />of the Council but in no instance to run for more than one year. It was <br />understood the City Manager would determine the wording and position of <br />said sign. <br />After considerable discussion relating to a Charter Amendment to increase the <br />maximum tax limit for general municipal purposes to permit the city to <br />operate more nearly upon an assessed valuation approximating the County <br />valuation, Councilman Jones, seconded by Councilman McNulty moved that <br />a committee be appointed to study the matter. Motion carried by a vote <br />of all Councilmen present, except Councilman McCarthy who voted "No". <br />Committee appointed, Councilman Jones, Councilman McCarthy and Mayor <br />Christensen. <br />On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Anderson, and carried, <br />the Clerk was authorized to advertise for election officers for the April 9 <br />election. <br />On motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, and carried, <br />February 5, 1940, 8:00 P. M. was set as the time for hearing on ordinance <br />zoning and changing certain set back lines on what is commonly known as <br />the Pratt -Low property. <br />A discussion was had relative to removing trees in parkways and the City <br />Manager was authorized to take up this matter and in his discretion per- <br />mit the removal of such trees as were doing damage or were in inconvenient <br />places; new trees, however, to be planted to take the place of any trees <br />removed.
