128
The City Tax Collector submitted the following letter:
"The following property has been sold on a contract basis on
March 14 1940: Lot 18, Block 12, Central Park - Sale Price $750.00, ;
deposit 175.00, Balance within one year - Interest at 6%.
Lot 51, Reese Tract, Sale Price $2500.00 - Deposit $625.00 -
Subject to the approval of Mayor and City Council. Balance releas-
ing lots of 6,000 sq. ft. ® $100.00 or payment of $600.00 per year,
length of contract - 3 years at 6% interest."
On motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded.by Councilman Fletcher,
the sale of Lot 51, Reese Tract, under the terms outlined, was approved.
Donald C. Spear was given restaurant license for 2047 Broadway on motion of
Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Anderson.
The City Manager filed letter concerning an old tankhouse on Lot 9 of the
i
Vt. W. & M. Subdivision which the Clean Up Committee had listed for
removal. The Building Inspector was asked to check up on this and
make a report at the next meeting, and Councilman McNulty said he would
try to see Mr. Rhoads, the owner, who lives in San Bruno.
The Planning Commission submitted a letter recommending that Charles Holt be
permitted to subdivide Lot 1, Block 12 in Central Park, to form three
lots. Mr. Storch, living on James Avenue, protested, and it was finally
decided, on motion of Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Fletcher,
to continue the matter until next meeting to enable the neighbors, if
possible, to work out some satisfactory solution.
The City Manager submitted letter recommending a plan of parking around the
Court House square and nearby streets, which was approved on motion of
Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Anderson.
The City Manager submitted letter recommending that the San Mateo County
Director for the National Youth Administration be permitted to use the
private office of the City Engineer. Approval was given on motion of
Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Anderson.
The City Manager submitted letter concerning the traffic situation at James
Avenue and Hudson Street and recommended that four-way stop signs be
placed at this intersection. On motion of Councilman Anderson, seconded
by Councilman McCarthy, the Council concurred in the recommendation.
This was the time for regular hearing and adoption of the recently compiled
and revised license ordinance, but in consideration of a letter from the
retail merchants and the protests of others interested, and especially in
view of the fact that there would be a number of new councilmen on the
i
board, it wasdecided to postpone any action toward the adoption of this
ordinance until April 15; this on motion of Councilman Jones, seconded
by Councilman McCarthy.
1
