Councilman McCarthy led in the discussion of the establishment of a personnel <br />system and a retirement system. He submitted a tentative draft of ordin- <br />ance creating and establishing a personnel system for the city, and on <br />his motion, seconded by Councilman Anderson, it was decided that if at <br />the election a majority of the voters approved the idea of having a <br />i <br />personnel system, that the Council would adopt an ordinance substantially <br />the same as the one submitted. <br />On motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman McNulty, the Clerk <br />was authorized to have printed and distributed with the sample ballots <br />a publicity pamphlet pertaining to the personnel system and retirement <br />system. <br />The approved claims were ordered paid on motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded <br />by Councilman Hohn. <br />Adjournment. <br />i. � <br />City Clerk <br />BEM:HAS <br />I'll JQAA <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />APRIL 1, 1911.0 <br />5:00 P.M. <br />Upon roll call the following Councilmen were present: H.F. Anderson, E.A. <br />Fletcher, Wm. Hohn, R.N. Jones, P.A. McCarthy, G.W. McNulty, Mayor L.C. <br />Christensen, and City Clerk B.E. Myers. <br />The minutes of the regular meeting of March 18 were approved on motion of <br />Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McCarthy. <br />There was read a letter from W. H. Sadler commenting on the desirability of <br />lighting along E1 Camino Real and also the construction of adequate sewers. <br />The City Manager indicated that study was already being made of the con- <br />ditions along that part of the highway. The Clerk was asked to acknowledge <br />Mr. Sadler's letter and to tell him that the matter was having attention. <br />l <br />There was read a claim filed against the city by Lester F. Prior for injuries <br />sustained by him March 11, about 9:30 P.M., at the intersection of Jefferson <br />Avenue and the alley leading in alongside the library. He asked for <br />
