130 <br />damages in the sum of ?1,000. On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded <br />by Councilman McCarthy, Mr. Prior's claim was rejected. (Note: The City <br />Manager reported that the claim and the circumstances had been reported <br />to the insurance carrier). <br />The City Tax Collector submitted the following letter: <br />"On March 30, 1940, City Manager C. L. Dimmitt recom- <br />mended that the sum of $143.77 be accepted in settlement of <br />the charges on the following property instead of 0159.74 <br />actually due if the total amount was paid in full. <br />The property referred to is Arb. Block 326, Lot 11, or <br />legal description Lot 10, Block 11, Range D. assessed in the <br />name of Anna Rose Call Pearce. <br />Delinquent Taxes 28.80 <br />Delinquent L 85.47 <br />Tax Penalty -Cost 16.57 <br />Bond Penalty 28.90 $159.74 <br />A check has been received in the amount of $143.77• <br />Please confirm the above authorization." <br />Authorization as requested was given on motion of Councilman Fletcher, <br />seconded by Councilman McCarthy. <br />On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Anderson, Rowena <br />Carter was given a restaurant license for business at 2116 Broadway. <br />Following the recommendation of the City Planning Commission, Archie DaMant <br />was given permission to subdivide Lot 12, Block 1, of New High School <br />Acres, located on James Street, according to the sketch submitted. <br />(See Planning Commission file). <br />Taking up again the subdivision of Lot 1, Block 17, Central Park as requested <br />in a previous meeting, there was•read a letter from A. H. Morgan, Jr., <br />representing the Central Park Improvement Association, suggesting that <br />the lot be subdivided into two lots, the houses, when built, facing <br />James Avenue. In the same connection, the City Manager submitted letter <br />and map recommending that the lot be subdivided into three lots, facing <br />Myrtle, James and Lowell, respectively. On motion of Councilman McCarthy, <br />seconded by Councilman Fletcher, it was decided to approve the plan sub- <br />mitted by the City Manager, which by informal discussion, had already <br />been approved by property owners who were present. <br />Following request made at last meeting, the Building Inspector made report <br />on the old tank frame 1n the 900 block on Roosevelt Avenue and recommend- <br />ed the structure be condemned and disposed of. On motion of Councilman <br />Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Anderson, abatement proceedings were <br />ordered provided that the owner did not, on his own initiative, remove <br />the tank frame before April S. <br />11 <br />a <br />
