170 <br />Pursuant to previous instruction, the City Attorney submitted.for consider- <br />ation an ordinance regulating the size of lots upon which residences may <br />be built in the first residential district. After consideration, it was <br />decided, on motion of Councilman Christensen, seconded by Councilman ' <br />Edmonds, to introduce the ordinance. <br />On motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Werder, Abatement Pro- <br />ceedings against'the building'at 228 Samson Street were continued until <br />next meeting. <br />On motion of Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman McNulty, Abatement Pro- <br />ceedings against the building at Walnut and Bradford were continued until <br />next meeting. <br />The City Manager and the Building Inspector reported concerning old barn on <br />Poplar Street, and consideration was laid over until the next meeting. <br />George Solari, representing the Foresters of America, addressed the Council <br />concerning request to have permission to conduct dances until 2 o'clock <br />a. m. On motion of Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman Granger, <br />the matter was laid over until the next meeting. <br />B. E. Biggerstaff, for the Redwood City Band, asked authorization of sufficient <br />funds to cover transportation costs of the band to a parade in San Francisco <br />on the evening of May 22. On motion of Councilman Edmonds, seconded by <br />Councilman Christensen, it was decided to donate to the band, for trans- ' <br />portation purposes, not to exceed $30. <br />Max Gelber, Director of the Sequoia Union High School Band, explained that that <br />organization was going to appear in this parade on the 22d and also par- <br />ticipate in the opening ceremonies on the 25th and suggested that it would <br />be a favorable opportunity for the City of Redwood City to get additional <br />publicity by means of a banner or some device to be carried along with the <br />band. The Council agreed that the opportunity should not be overlooked <br />and authorized the City Manager, on motion of Councilman Werder, seconded <br />by Councilman Edmonds, to procure the necessary banner at a cost not to <br />exceed $45. <br />Application by Frank M. Garcia for restaurant license at 2231 El Camino Real <br />was laid over until the next meeting because it was desired that some in- <br />vestigation and report be made; this on motion of Councilman Edmonds, <br />seconded by Councilman McNulty. In this connection, the City Manager was <br />asked to have such applications and similar requests investigated before <br />presentation before the Council. <br />On motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Edmonds, the Council <br />concurred in the recommendation of the Planning Commission that Ethel <br />Brannan be given permission to divide Lots 7, 8, and 9 and Lot A of Block R, <br />i <br />
