E
6
Wooster, Whitton and Montgomery Subdivision, into 4 lots as per sketch
submitted.
On motion of Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman Granger, the Council
concurred in the recommendation of the Planning Commission that the Red-
wood Highlands Company be permitted to subdivide Lots 10, 11, and portion
of 12, Block 6, Oak Knoll Manor, into 6 lots as per sketch submitted.
A committee representing the Recreation Fund for Redwood City appeared to re-
quest of the Council a donation of $500 toward Fourth of July celebration
expenses. After considerable discussion as to the desirability of making
such a contribution, it was finally decided, on motion of Councilman Werder,
seconded by Councilman McNulty, to donate for this purpose not to exceed $300.
H. Weiner of the San Mateo County Realty Company appeared before the Council to
consider further his application for permit to erect a small steel and con-
crete building on E1 Camino Real approximately 100 feet north of the pres-
ent Shell Oil Company's station opposite Wellesley Park. He submitted sketch
of the proposed construction. On motion of Councilman Werder, seconded by
Councilman Edmonds, application granted.
H. Gibbs, representing General Petroleum Corporation appeared before the Council
in connection with the request of the General Petroleum Company to construct
a service
station
at the northwest corner
of Jefferson Avenue and E1 Camino
Real. The
matter
had previously been held
up by the State Highway Commission
which was negotiating for the purchase of the property. Mr. Gibbs and Mr.
Louis Behrens told the Council that this part of the deal had been concluded
and that there was now no reason for holding up the permit as requested.
It was finally decided, on motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Council-
man Christensen, to grant the request of the General Petroleum Company for
the placing of a service station at this corner according to the conditions
outlined in the company's letter of April which read, in part; as follows:
"Request that we be permitted to install improvements in the 27 -foot set-
back area at this time with the understanding that we will remove and re-
locate at our expense the pumps, pump island, and air and water wells to a
permanent location back of the setback line when, and if, the highway is
widened. 11
The City Manager submitted letter concerning an old barn at the southeast corner
of Arguello and Rogers Street on which the Building Inspector had made report
stating that said building was unsightly and should be removed. On motion
of Councilman Edmonds, seconded by Councilman Christensen, the City Manager
was asked to write to the owner asking him to tear down the barn.
