Please <br />confirm the above authorization." <br />On motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Werder, and carried, <br />I.. said authorization was confirmed and approved by the Council. <br />In connection with the disposition of the new business license ordinance, on motion <br />of Councilman Edmonds, seconded by Councilman Werder, and carried, the hear- <br />ing on the disposition of said ordinance was continued to June 17, 1940, at <br />8:00 o'clock P. M. <br />In the matter of the application of Frank M. Garcia for a restaurant license at <br />2231 E1 Camino Real, the City Manager reported that the Health Department <br />had recommended certain improvements in the premises, and on motion of <br />Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman Edmonds, and carried, said appli- <br />cation was continued until June 17, 1940, at 8:00 o'clock P. M. to give the <br />applicant an opportunity to comply with the Health Board's request. <br />The application heretofore made by Court Madrone•No. 158 Foresters of America <br />requesting the Council to grant them a permit on the holding of public <br />dances in their hall until 2:00 o'clock A. M. came up for further hearing <br />and discussion, and the City Attorney reported that he had contacted the <br />Cities of San Mateo, Burlingame and Palo Alto and had been informed that <br />( the closing hour permitted in those cities was 1:00 o'clock A. M. <br />Olin F. Nuckolls residing in the close proximity of the Foresters Hall spoke in <br />opposition to said request and Al Bullivant and Eugene Badger of Court <br />Madrone spoke in favor thereof and after considerable discussion Council- <br />man Edmonds moved that the permit be denied. Said motion was lost for the <br />want of a second. Councilman Werder then moved that said permit be granted <br />which was also lost for the want of a second. After considerable further <br />discussion, Councilman Edmonds, seconded by Councilman Granger, and carried, <br />4 <br />moved that the requested permit be granted for a trial period of 90 days. <br />Ordinance No. 442 regulating the size of lots upon which residences can be built <br />in the first residential district in the City which had been duly intro- <br />duced and regularly published as required by the City Charter was upon <br />motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Christensen, adopted <br />by unanimous vote of the Councilmen present. <br />The City Attorney reported thathe had not as yet heard from the Travelers Insur- <br />ance Company relative to group insurance on City Employees, but felt sure <br />he would have a report for the Council at its next meeting. <br />
