18° <br />WHEREAS, in and by said notice to abate nuisance said Building <br />Inspector of the City of Redwood City did fix Monday the 6th day of <br />May, 1940, at the hour of 5:00 o'clock P.M. of said day at the Council <br />Chamber in the City Hall on Middlefield Road in said City of Redwood <br />City, at the time and place when the owner of the building situated <br />upon said hereinafter described real property could appear and be heard <br />and show cause why said building should not be condemned as a public <br />nuisance and abated by re -constructing or properly repairing said build- <br />ing or by razing or removing the same; and <br />WHEREAS, said council did regularly continue said hearing until the <br />17th day of June, 1940, at 5:00 o'clock P.M.; and <br />WHEREAS, said Council did proceed with said hearing and after con- <br />sidering all objections made and received does determine that due and <br />legal notice of said hearing was given as required by the ordinances of <br />the City of Redwood City as appears from the affidavit of L. M. DUNCAN <br />on file in the office of the City Clerk: <br />THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Redwood <br />City, and said Council does hereby declare the building or structure <br />situated upon the hereinafter described real property to be a public <br />nuisance and does hereby direct the owner to abate said nuisance within <br />thirty (30) days from the passage of this resolution, by having said <br />building razed or removed, and if said building is not so abated by the <br />owner the Building Inspector of the City of Redwood City is hereby order- <br />ed and directed to raze or remove said building and that the expenses <br />thereof be made a lien on the lot or parcel of land from which said build- <br />ing or structure•is removed and which is hereinafter described. The real <br />property referred to herein upon which the building or structure herein- <br />before mentioned is to be removed, is described as follows, to -wit: <br />That certain rectangular lot situated at the Southwest corner of Bradford <br />and Walnut Streets in the City of Redwood City fronting 49.5 feet on the <br />South side of Bradford Street by 124 feet on the West side of Walnut <br />Street, 39.25 feet on rear line." <br />Discussion was had concerning the condition of the building at the corner of <br />Arguello and Rogers, but no action was taken. <br />Standard Stations, Inc., by C. B. Rogers, Division Manager, filed plans and <br />also a letter requesting that the previously suggested setback of 14 feet <br />be changed to 10 foot setback on James Street, stating, "We hereby traive <br />all claim to any damages incidental to the removal of facilities placed <br />by us within the 10 foot area as mentioned when the City of Redwood City <br />Z <br />widens James Street so as to utilize that 10 foot strip for street or road- <br />way purposes." On motion of Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman <br />Edmonds, the Council concurred in the recommendation of the Planning Com- <br />mission and permit was granted in-line with the statement made in the <br />letter above quoted. <br />On motion of Councilman Edmonds, seconded by Councilman Christensen, the Council <br />concurred in the recommendation of the Planning Commission that Mrs. Sallie <br />Robertson, 529 Sapphire Street, Redwood City, be permitted to divide Lot 7, <br />Block 9 of New High School Acres into two parcels as requested. <br />The City Manager submitted plans of Pellarin Court, being a Subdivision of Lot E, <br />Map No. 2 of the Wooster, Whitton, and Montgomery Subdivision, and recommend- <br />ed that the Council accept the subdivision.
