He explained that
the E -Flat Clarinet was an unusual instrument which players would ordin-
arily not buy, but that it was quite desirable to have one in the band.
He said it was desirable to have a certain amount allocated from the
budget for expenses of the band, which expense he promised to hold down
to as low a figure as possible. It was finally decided, on motion of
Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman McNulty, to have the City
Manager allocate $300 from the Unbudgeted Reserve for this purpose.
Councilman Granger, reporting for the committee on business license revision,
asked that the matter be,continued until the next meeting; motion see-
onded by Councilman Christensen and carried.
Councilman Edmonds, seconded by Councilman McNulty, proposed adoption of reso-
lution accepting deed from the San Mateo County Title Company, Parcels A
and B. being a portion of Lot Numbered 1 of the Subdivision of Sweeney
Ranch. Carried.
Councilman Christensen, seconded by Councilman McNulty, proposed the intro-
duction of ordinance repealing Ordinance 158. Carried.
At a former meeting Oleson & Son had asked permission to erect a building on
the Thorpe property, next to their present location, but as the building
was in conflict with building and fire restrictions, the matter was laid
over until the meeting of August 5. In the meantime, Oleson & Son had
written a letter binding themselves to certain conditions and individually
approached the councilmen to obtain their approval. However, Councilman
Edmonds was not reached to have the matter presented to him. Councilman
Edmonds vigorously protested the circulation of papers to individual coun-
cilmen and especially if some of the councilmen were not reached. On
motion of Councilman Christensen, seconded by Councilman Werder, Oleson
& Son were given permission to erect a building in line with the covenants
included in their letter, Councilman Edmonds voting "No".
r
I I 1
Ll
U
