The council- ' <br />4 i <br />men indicated a belief in the desirability of having a bus line, but no j <br />R <br />provision had been made in the budget for any contribution for that <br />purpose. Councilman Granger proposed that the Mayor appoint a committee <br />to give consideration to this project. He was seconded by Councilman f <br />Werder, and the motion carried. The Mayor appointed Councilmen Christen- <br />sen, McNulty, and Granger to work with the City Manager. { <br />i <br />T. J. Hallinan addressed the Council on'behalf of the San Francisco Peninsula, <br />Inc., and asked that the $500 set up in the budget for that organization !!!� <br />be increased to $1300. Admitting the desirability of cooperation,with <br />this organization; the difficulty of providing the money had to be over- <br />come. Finally, however, on motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by <br />Councilman Werder, that the city appropriate an extra amount from the <br />Unbudgeted Reserve for contribution to the San Francisco Peninsula, Inc., <br />provided all the other cities in the district cooperate by pledging their <br />respective amounts, the matter came to vote but lost on a 3-3 vote, Mayor <br />Anderson supporting the motion with the movers. <br />Frank Marshall, representing the owner of property at the northwest corner of i <br />E1 Camino Real and Harrison Street, asked permission to move the little <br />store building at that location across Harrison to the southwest corner. <br />Permission granted on motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Council- <br />man Christensen, provided the building had a new front and the work was <br />done under the supervision of the Building Inspector. <br />At the request of the presidentof the Chamber of Commerce, Mayor Anderson <br />appointed Councilman Edmonds to serve as the city's representative in I <br />the organization meeting for a Redwood City Committee for National De- 1 <br />fense, and the City Clerk was asked to notify Councilman Edmonds to that <br />effect. <br />Councilman Granger, for the business license committee, recommended that the <br />hearing on the proposed ordinance be continued until the next meeting. <br />It was also decided to continue until the next meeting the hearing on the <br />civil service and retirement ordinance, which the City Manager thought <br />would be ready at that time. <br />In connection with previous discussion concerning the sale of 31 lots of the <br />Geniin Homestead, the Real Estate Committee submitted the following pro- <br />posal. On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Granger, <br />the Council concurred in the recommendation of the Real Estate Committee <br />and instructed the Attorney to prepare the necessary agreement.
