Councilman Christensen, seconded by Councilman Werder, proposed the adoption
of Ordinance 443 repealing Ordinance No.•'159. Carried.
The City Attorney.submitted ordinance fixing the amount of money to be raised
by taxes, and the ordinance was introduced on motion,of Councilman McNulty,
seconded by Councilman Fletcher.
The City Attorney reported on his .examination of the county uniform plumbing
ordinance and said it could be adopted by the City by making slight
changes. He was accordingly, on motion of Councilman Christensen, sec-
onded by Councilman Werder, instructed to prepare the proposed ordinance
to incorporate the provisions of this uniform county ordinance.
The Redwood City Planning Commission, by C. L. Dimmitt as secretary, filed a
letter recommending the acquisition of the necessary land,, as indicated
on map, to establish'a street between Oak Avenue and Redwood Avenue, in-
dicating first and second choices. The Council was in favor of this, and
Mayor Anderson asked Councilman Werder to serve with the City Manager and
Mr. Stafford of the Planning Commission.
The Planning Commission, by its secretary, filed a letter in which was approv-
ed the proposed subdivision of Lot 10 in Block 5 of Oak Knoll Manor, said
lot to be divided into three parcels as indicated on map with the letter.
On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Christensen,
the Council concurred in this recommendation, and it was so ordered.
According to ordinance, the street frontage about service stations has per-
mitted forty percent for driveway entrances to the property. In the re-
construction of its service station at the southwest corner of El Camino
Real and James Avenue, the Shell Oil Company submitted plan for proposed
driveway not in accordance with the ordinance. The sketch shows a request
for 50 feet of an 80 -foot frontage on E1 Camino Real. However, consider-
ing the location of this service station and the possible hazard of park-
ing at that place, it was decided, on motion of Councilman Werder, second-
ed by Councilman Fletcher, to permit the construction as suggested by the
Shell Oil Company.
Further consideration of the bids for the improvement of Inner Circle and Lex-
ington Avenue was given, but it was decided, on motion of Councilman
Werder, seconded by Councilman McNulty, that the hearing on the award of
contract for these projects be continued until the next meeting on Septem-
ber 3, 1940. However, later in the evening, on motion of Councilman
Werder, seconded by Councilman McNulty, the Council rescinded its action
qq
