1 <br />II <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />SEPTEMBER 3, 1940 <br />8:00 P. M. <br />Upon roll call the following Councilmen were present: L. C. Christensen, <br />•, - <br />H. W,. Edmonds, E. A. Fletcher, F. D. Granger, G. W. McNulty, W. M. Werder, <br />and Mayor H. F. Anderson; absent, City Clerk B. E. Myers, <br />Upon motion of Councilman Edmonds, seconded by Councilman Werder, and carried, <br />Councilman Fletcher was elected Clerk pro tem. <br />The minutes of the meeting of August 19 were approved on motion of Councilman <br />Werder, seconded by Councilman Fletcher. '' <br />Letters were received from -the Redwood City Chambers of Commerce with reference <br />to contribution to the Mission Trails Association. A Claim of $150 recom- <br />mended by the Chambers of Commerce was put through with the regular claims. <br />Application of Fred Vt. Larkin for a restaurant license at 909 Main Street was <br />granted upon motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Werder <br />and carried.. <br />Certified copy of the following resolution of the Parks and Recreation Commission <br />was ordered filed. <br />"WHEREAS; the Board of Port Commissioners of the City of <br />Redwood City, at their regular meeting of August 6, 1940, did <br />by resolution vote to turn over to the Parks and Recreation Com- <br />mission of the City of Redwood City, certain facilities of the <br />Yacht Harbor in Redwood City, now therefore <br />BE IT RESOLVED: by the Redwood City Parks and Recreation <br />Commission that the said tender be accepted and that all rec- <br />reational facilities, berths for yachts, swimming floats,, op- <br />eration of the boat house and sanitary facilities of the Red- <br />wood City Yacht Harbor be until further action by the Port Com- <br />mission, the Parks and Recreation Commission and/or the City <br />Council, operated by the said Parks and Recreation Commission; <br />save and except that the said Port Commission shall retain juris- <br />diction over the real property and waterways actjacent thereto." <br />Mr. Browning, the Secretary of the S. F. P. I. relative to the requested contri- <br />bution,by the City of Redwood City of #130.0 .for advertising purposes for the <br />ensuing year, outlined the purposes for which the money would be used and <br />after a general discussion among the Councilmen with Mr. Browning, upon <br />motion of Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, the sum of <br />$1300 was authorized to be contributed to the S. F. P. I. for the ensuing <br />year's advertising campaign by the following vote: °Yes": Councilmen <br />Christensen, Fletcher, Granger, Werder, Anderson; "No": Councilmen <br />Edmonds and McNulty. It was specified, and the motion carried, that un- <br />less all the other major cities in the county contributed their pro rata <br />share as requested. by the S. F. P. I. that Redwood City's contribution <br />would not be forthcoming. <br />217, <br />
