reference to subdividing certain lots in Block 2, Oak Knoll Manor. On <br />account of this property being before the Recreation Commission as a <br />possible park and recreation site, on motion of Councilman McNulty, <br />seconded by Councilman Granger, and carried, the matter was continued <br />to the meeting of November 4, 1940, at S P. M. <br />A letter was received from Mr. White, Oak Knoll Drive, relative to the traffic <br />situation at the corner of Brewster Avenue and E1 Camino Real. Mr. White <br />suggested that an automatic signal be placed at that corner and synchronized <br />with the Broadway signal. Mr. Dimmitt, the City Manager, reported that <br />this matter was now under consideration and that he was to have a confer- <br />ence with Col. Skeggs of the State Highway Department concerning this and <br />other matters.. The letter was referred to him to discuss and report back <br />at -the -next meeting. <br />Letter received from Lawrence Scudder & Company, City Auditors, requesting re- <br />employment for the 1940-1941 fiscal period, and requesting that their fee <br />be fixed at $600 with the understanding that if the time consumed did not <br />amount of $600, the city would receive credit for any balance. The pres- <br />ent fee is between $425 and $500. On motion of Councilman Fletcher, sec- <br />onded by Councilman McNulty, and carried, they were re-employed to do the <br />auditing for the present fiscal year with the understanding that any amount <br />of their fee over and above what they are now receiving to make up the <br />$600 should be paid by the Water Department. <br />Another letter was received from Lawrence Scudder & Company stating the results <br />of their examination of the city's cash and bond accounts on October 2 and <br />October 9, 1940, and the same was on motion of Councilman Christensen, <br />seconded by Councilman Werder, and carried, ordered filed. <br />A letter was received from the Boy Scouts of America stating that they had secured <br />a boat that they desired to place at. the Yacht Harbor in the next berth to <br />that occupied by the boat they now have. On motion of Councilman Werder, <br />seconded by Councilman Fletcher, the matter was referred to the Recreation <br />Commission with the statement that the City desired to waive the fees in <br />connection with the berth rental. <br />Councilman Christensen, Chairman of the bus committee, reported on the same. Mr. <br />Martin spoke on the matter. Mr. Moore of the Commuters Club and Mr. Clegg <br />of the Commuters Club also spoke. The matter was referred.back to the <br />committee for further study and a report at a later date. <br />Mr. C. Mish spoke complaining that a house had been constructed on Jefferson <br />Avenue at the corner of Hawes and was occupied, but that no sidewalk had <br />I I <br />1 <br />
