<br />and requested that the matter be continued until the next regular meeting,
<br />November 4, 1940, to give him and others interested an opportunity for
<br />further study, and upon motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Coun-
<br />cilman Christensen, and carried, the hearing on the adoption of said
<br />ordinance was continued until November 4, 1940, at 8 P. M.
<br />In the matter of the appointment of a City Treasurer in the place of our deceased
<br />Treasurer, B. E. Myers, on motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Coun-
<br />oilman Christensen, and carried, said appointment was continued to November 4,
<br />1940, at 8 P. M.
<br />Upon motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Edmonds, and carried,
<br />it was ordered that due to the death of City Clerk and City Treasurer B. E.
<br />Myers,, that City Manager C,. L. Dimmitt, be authorized to sign with Mayor
<br />Harold F. Anderson all city warrants until the appointment of a successor
<br />to Mr. Myers.
<br />Request was made by Dave L. Walter that the City accept $261.55 in lieu of
<br />$389-37 if all charges were paid in full against Lot 11, Block 11, Sweeney
<br />Addition, and on motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman
<br />Christensen, the request was granted.
<br />Councilman Granger called to the Council's attention several complaints that
<br />have been made to him as to conditions in various parts of the city and
<br />after general discussion most of the matters were taken care of.
<br />Councilman Edmonds addressed the Board stating that the Advisory Board appointed
<br />by the Governor of the state under the selective service law and who had no
<br />expense account of any kind, needed general office space for their use.
<br />Upon motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Werder, and
<br />carried, the City Manager was authorized to take care of this request and
<br />find an available place in the City Hall.
<br />Invitation from the City Council of Menlo Park to take part in the Armistice Day
<br />services was received and filed.
<br />On motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Werder, and carried,
<br />claims in the amount of $12,970.78 were ordered paid.
<br />On motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Christensen, and carried,
<br />the following resolution was adopted by unanimous vote of the Council:
<br />IN MEMORIAM - - B. E. MYERS
<br />"WHEREAS, on the 18th day of October, 1940, our Heavenly Father, in
<br />his infinite wtdom, removed from our midst our esteemed City Clerk and
<br />Treasurer and fellow public official, B. E. Myers; and
<br />WHEREAS, in his passing this city has suffered the loss not only of
<br />its efficient and devoted Clerk, but of a valiant friend and advisor as
<br />well; and
