ra <br />WHEREAS, our City has lost the services of a faithful, efficient <br />and devoted citizen and public servant; and <br />WHEREAS, B. E. Myers was a man whose entire life was characterized <br />by a high sense of personal honesty, courage and integrity, and -devotion <br />to the common good of his fellow man; and <br />WHEREAS, these same high qualities dominated his every action as a <br />public official and private citizen; and <br />WHEREAS, his death brings to a close a private and public life out- <br />standing in its record of service to this city, and to his fellow man; and <br />WHEREAS, his life and career as a devoted father and husband, a loyal <br />and faithful friend, a patriot and trustworthy public servant have built <br />for him a lasting monument in the hearts and minds of his fellow citizens: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: <br />That the meeting of the City Council of Redwood City adjourn out of <br />respect to the memory of our deceased Clerk, B. E. Myers; <br />That a copy of this resolution be inscribed as a part of the record <br />and proceedings of this meeting of the,City Council and a copy thereof <br />sent to the family of B. E. Myers with profound expression of our sincere <br />sympathy; <br />That we hereby express our high appreciation for the life and public <br />services of our fellow public official, B. E. Myers-, and the deep sense <br />of loss, due to his passing from our midst, which we share in common with <br />the citizens of our city-" <br />C. Christensen, Clerk pro tem <br />LCC:HAS <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING_ <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />NOVEMBER 4, 1940 <br />5:00 P. M. <br />Upon roll call the following Councilmen were present: L. C. Christensen, <br />H. W. Edmonds, E. A. Fletcher, F. D. Granger, G. W. McNulty, W. M. <br />Werder, Mayor H F. Anderson. Due to the death of City Clerk B. E. <br />Myers, there was no Clerk present. <br />The City Manager by letter stated that he had appointed C. W. Eltringham City <br />Clerk and submitted the same for approval of the Council. Upon motion <br />of Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman Granger, the appointment <br />of C. W. Eltringham as City Clerk of the City of Redwood City by the <br />City Manager was approved by the vote of all the Councilmen, with the <br />exception of Councilman Fletcher who voted "No". The oath of office of <br />C. W. Eltringham was thereupon administered to him. <br />
