AU <br />Ordinance No. 448 regulating the hours of parking upon certain streets and <br />portions thereof in the City of Redwood City was adopted on motion of <br />Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman Christensen, and carried by <br />unanimous vote. <br />There was read a letter from H. H. Weiner of the San Mateo County Realty <br />Company relative to James Harder's chicken ranch adjoining D Street in <br />the Lenolt Tract. After discussion, it was decided that before taking <br />any action the members of the Council would personally inspect the <br />premises and that a complete written report covering sanitary conditions <br />at the chicken ranch be obtained from the Health Department. <br />On motion of Councilman Edmonds, seconded by Councilman McNulty, and carried, <br />it was agreed that the owner of the fertilizer'establishment on the east <br />side of Bayshore Highway be requested to enclose manure piles, etc. with <br />fences and that H. H. Weiner improve and landscape the real estate office <br />building and grounds on E1 Camino Real near the north city limits, as <br />both parties heretofore agreed to do. <br />The proposed ordinance regulating the keeping of chickens, goats, etc. was <br />discussed at length but held over until the next meeting. <br />There was read a letter from the "American Committee for Defense of British <br />Homes", stating that the committee was desirous of obtaining firearms <br />to be sent to England for distribution to civilians for defense of homes. <br />On motion of Councilman Granger, seconded by Councilman Werder, the City <br />Clerk was instructed to obtain a report on the committee from the Federal <br />Bureau of Investigation together with any comments they may wish to give. <br />On motion of Councilman Christensen, seconded by Councilman Granger, and <br />carried, the following resolution was adopted: <br />"RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Redwood City that the fol- <br />lowing bonds of the following officers of the City of Redwood City be <br />and they are hereby approved: <br />1- The bond of Clarence William Eltringham in the sum of $75,000.00 <br />as City Treasurer of the City of Redwood City, County of San Mateo, State <br />of California, dated November 9th, 1940, with the Aetna Casualty and Surety <br />Company, Hartford Conneticut, as surety; <br />2- The bond of Clarence William Eltringham in the sum of $2500.00 <br />as City Clerk of the City of Redwood City, County of San Mateo, State of <br />California, dated November 9th, 1940, with the Aetna Casualty and, Surety <br />Company, Hartford, Conneticut, as surety; <br />3�' The bond of Clarence William Eltringham in the sum of $1000.00 <br />as City Auditor of the City of Redwood City, County of San Mateo, State <br />of California, dated November 9th, 1940, with the Aetna Casualty and <br />Surety Company, Hartford, Conneticut, as surety." <br />i <br />i <br />
