s <br />%S - <br />tt including extension of existing recreational areas, improvements to the <br />Yacht Harbor and baseball grounds, lighting tennis courts, additional park, <br />playground and recreational equipment and apparatus for existing recrea- <br />tional areas, landscaping existing recreational areas, and all other works, <br />properties and structures necessary or convenient for the improvement of <br />the existing public playground and recreational areas of the City of Red- <br />wood City. <br />2. - That said Municipal improvements specified in the foregoing <br />f subparagraphs (a), (b), and (c) of Section 1 are, and each of them is, <br />necessary and convenient to carry out the objects, purposes and powers of <br />�k said City. <br />3. - That the cost of said municipal improvements above described, <br />and each of 'them, is -and will be too great to be paid out of the ordinary <br />` annual income and revenue of said City.'' <br />`i Councilman Fletcher expressed the opinion that he was not in favor of in- <br />curring a bonded indebtedness for recreational purposes at this time but <br />j felt that improvements at the Port were necessary. Motion carried*by roll <br />call vote of all the councilmen present. <br />j In a letter addressed to the -Council, Ovay Bennett stated a group of Redwood City <br />women, entering the Women's International Bowling Tournament to be held in <br />i <br />Los Angeles in June of this year, expressed the desire to be sponsored by <br />the City of Redwood City. The City Clerk was directed to refer this com- <br />munication to the Chamber of Commerce and to inform Ovay Bennett of the <br />i Council's action. <br />City Manager Dimmitt explained that the expenses of the Advisory Board had exceeded <br />the amount previously allowed by the Council, and on motion .of Councilman <br />zFletcher, seconded by Councilman Werder, it was decided that expenses of <br />f. • <br />the Board be allowed up to the amount of $650. <br />The Community Chest was granted permission to use the Council Chambers on Thurs- <br />day evening, March 6, 19.1, on motion of Councilman Granger, seconded by <br />Councilman McNulty and carried: <br />Councilman Granger spoke of -the apparent inadequacy of the ,present electrical <br />ordinance: After a discussion, a committee consisting of Councilman Gran- <br />ger, chairman, Councilman Christensen and L. M. Duncan, Building Inspector, <br />:G <br />were appointed by the Mayor to study the electrical code used by'the county, <br />and the present city ordinance, for the purpose of bringing this matter up - <br />1 <br />e <br />to -date and, if possible, adopt a uniform electrical inspection code. <br />The matter of parking in the vicinity of the County Court House was discussed at <br />length, and City Manager Dimmitt was directed to confer with the County Exe- <br />cutive -and County Engineer relative to parking in this area. <br />Frank•DePatta, Vice-president of the Redwood City Chamber of Commerce, asked the <br />City Council. to consider appointment of a "Clean-up committee's for the year <br />,1941. <br />
